| Just out of curiousity? How many of you have ever been asked to produce your yorkies vax/rabies papers when traveling? After discussing this with Lisa, I think I will be just fine with their rabies tags only and no other papers. Thoughts or suggestions?

| I take all records with us when we travel because you just never know. I have found out recently that some vets will demand that all shots are current before treating or, in some cases, even entering their clinic. So, it is possible in an emergency situation if you don't have proof of vaccinations they could make you revaccinate before any treatment could be done...I don't think I would want to risk that. JMHO... |

I did find it ironic last year that it required more paperwork to get ZoE into the local Renaissance Festival than it did at the airport.

But the original question, have you ever been asked?

| Thank you. It also just occurred to me that relying on an ER vet to call your vet for proof of shots could delay treatment...and if it's after hours (remember different times zones also) they may not be able to get the information at all. I just feel it's best to be safe and take those records along... Yah, I'm a bit paranoid I guess...but...just paranoid enough to keep me out of trouble! lol! |

I got titers last time, so I guess I wouldn't have any type of proof of anything besides his rabies shot.

| Airport terminals...usually for international flights, but also at times for domestic...most recently Delta on a flight from Michigan to Georgia. Other places have been touristy type events. A sightseeing boat cruise, fairs, variety of festivals...as I said the renaissance festival requires, proof of rabies, distemper & parvo vaccinations, a photo ID, a completed registration form (vet info, etc)) and a signed waiver. It even varies year to year at the same events...I no longer assume just because I took my dog last year & nothing was required, that nothing will be required this year. All it takes is one dog causing a problem and new rules are in place the following year. In fact, our vet has been asked for so many copies of shot/health records for attendance at events & for when traveling, that he now provides each patient with a photo ID card listing all vaccinations.

| I have never been asked for any documents. Even when flying home with Curri (who was a 6 month old puppy who had not yet had her rabies vac) . I do carry copies in my "diaper bag" but they may even be outdated now as I have yet to use them. We have flown over a dozen times and stayed in numerous hotels. Petsmart in Michigan (when I went to get Sugar's nails clipped before I began using the dremel) was the only place that asked. I DID have them with me, however, in the trusty diaper bag So moral of the story is, it can't hurt to carry copies, even if they become old and discolored from under use ~ because you just never know when you may be asked

Yes. That is part of the reason I stated that they may be outdated now( or soon will be ) I have 2 more years to decide on rabies booster but I'm done with all else for Sugar. Curri will get her 3 year Rabies (her first and probably only) a few months before her spay, which I will probably do sometime after her first birthday. So what will I do??? Hope that my Vet will write a letter? Hope to slip by? Not sure yet....
