Thinking of Pat and you, and sending prayers and best wishes. I also wanted to wish you both a belated congratulations on your anniversary. |
Thinking about you and Pat. Hope his rehab is going well. |
I want to update! Pat is doing so well, he has been off his trach collar since early yesterday! He's breathing room air through his nose and mouth just like we do. He's sitting up in a chair, on the side of the bed, pic line is out. Now, for the really exciting news....all the swelling is down and they anticipate putting the front bone back in next week. Pat will then be transferred to the University of MD that has a specialized tramatic head injury rehab program. I'm so elated...I simply drop to my knees and thank God, we are so blessed! Thank you all for your continued prayers, we so appreciated and love you all! God is good! Be back when I can...next week sounds like a busy one:) |

Great news!!! So happy that Pat's journey is on a good path. :) |
I'm back with an update:). I went to visit Pat yesterday and he was alert and watching TV. I immediately noticed he had padded mitts on both hands and then I saw why....Pat lifted his right hand and scratched his nose!!! Yes, his right arm/hand and leg are now moving!!! He was able to lift both for me, although not as high and is weaker than the left side, but it's wonderful progress. Oh, the mitts are o I less so done is with him, because he unhooked everything even his seatbelt for the chair, he says he was to get up. I know it's harder for the staff but it's exciting news for Pat and his progress. Unless there is a change, Pat will be moved over to the UVA Hospital on Tuesday and the bone will be put back in on Wednesday. I'm so nervous, but so excited for Pat and his recovery can continue to move forward and provide mobility for him with the bone back in place. Continued prayers needed for his upcoming surgery. Thank you all for being with us through this journey. Oh, I toured the Univ of MD TBI on Friday, not a place for us. We are now looking at the TI program at INOVA in Alexandria, VA. Praying they will accept Pat I to the program after his surgery |
Oh Tena I'm so happy to hear of the progress on Pats right side. That's so encouraging!! I am in awe of his (any your) strength and courage |

Updat....Pat's transfer over to UVA today didn't happen. UVA Hospital had a flood on higher level and patient had to be moved etc. Neuro surgery is backed up and no time is open. They are to call me 24 hours before the transfer so I will have time to drive back down, I'm staying to in VA tonight anyway, I feel so bad and have such a sore throat. I'll stop at my doctors on the way home in e morning...no time to be sick for sure! Pat is now moving every limb and was sitting out by the nurses desk when I arrived today, lol. He was busy trying to take his padded mitts off, however, when they do he gets busy undoing his seat strap and pulling things off, says he wants to stand up. When they put him back to bed, PT actually got the chair close to the bed and held onto Pat he, stood, pivoted and sat his skinny behind on the bed. It was wonderful to see, but made me a nervous wreck too. He is weak and shaky but standing. |
OMG! That's fantastic! (the standing!) WooHoo! Still praying for the transfer, and rapid healing and recuperation. And do take care of yourself... praying for you too! Hugs, K |
Standing even shaking is great news. Hopefully they get him moved soon. And take care of you. I am sure you are getting ran down with so much stress So please don't put off stopping and getting something for your throat Love these updates prayers continue |
That's amazing progress. I hope you feel better too. |
