Today was Mikes first day in his new room ,and out of the CC unit. They moved him during the night. Then around 5am he started having a problem with his heart again. It is a- fib. So they had to move him from his regular room to the heart unit. My goodness this is starting to take a toll on me, I can not imagine poor Mike. He say's nothing, But then again ,what can he say. I just wish he could get all of this behind him. The doctor has said all along he is pulling thru this because his heart is so strong. Now this comes up. I ask mike how he is doing and he says Okay. He does look good and it is so hard to believe he is so ill. Thanks again for every thing. Mike said thank you as well.

Sorry to hear Mike is back in the CCU. I know this must be discouraging for both of you at this point.

I would make sure they put the pneumatic booties back on him w this a fib problem. There are meds (amariodone) that can be effective w a fib, but I'm not sure w his other medical problems if these kinds of drugs mesh w what he is on.

Please try to get some sleep yourself. This stress of constant worry can take its toll on you. We will continue to keep you and Mike in our prayers.

Mike will finally be leaving the hospital on Friday. He will be making a pitstop at rehab for a while to get strong enough to be able to walk. He has been in the hospital this time for a bit over 2 weeks. Not getting out of bed is not good at all for your body. It is'nt that he did not want to get out of bed, he was not allowed to. He was having a heart problem. That is all behind him now, Thank God. Mike has an appointment at George Washington University in Dc on the 9th for a consult about having the TIPS procedure done. Then again on the 15th to have a 6 hr consult with the liver transplant team, to see if he is a able to be placed on the liver transplant list. He has a long road ahead of him. please keep him in your prayers and thought. You all are the greatest, and all of your prayers have gotten him this far. Thanks so much. He asked me to thank all of you so much. Thanks again and I will keep you posted. He also has an appointment at Johns Hopkins on the 20th to see what they can do as well.

Penn State Hershey Medical Center is doing a new liver transplant where they take only a portion of a family donor's liver and transplant it into person needing transplanted organ. Both livers regenerate and grow. This is a fairly new procedure - last couple of years. It might be something to ask about when you are on your appts.

I just wanted to keep you all updated on Mike's Progress. He was going to rehab today, but again there was a set back. This time it was not because of Mike, It was because the rehab would not accept him because he needs to be drained once a week and the rehab gets paid a lump sum to care for him, so they want to know what the cost of the draining will cost because they are afraid they will not get enough money if they have to pay for a draining, Once a week. I could not believe when they told me that. Also, this morning I had to talk to the Doctor because Mike was on a rx for portal hypertension,When he stared with a- fib they got concerned and started him on a new med to stop the a-fib but at the same time they stopped the rx he was taking. Well, because the two meds together stopped the a-fib, they did not want to continue the old med. The only problem is he is not being treated for the portal hypertension. Which only means that he can have a GI bleed if it is not treated. So, I questioned the Doctor about what treatment they would do for it and she said nothing. I explained my concern and she said she sees what I am talking about and would look into it for me. They stared him back on the old medicine. I told her if he goes home without medicine they are asking for a bad thing to happen to Mike. They all agreed so he is back on his medicine. Also I said to the team that releases the patients, that I would feel better if they were able to monitor his heart over the weekend to make sure he does not have the a-fib return, because they would not be monitoring his heart at rehab and if he has a problem, they would not know about it until it would be too late. They all agreed with me. I told them maybe they can drain him on Monday then send him to rehab that way they will not have to worry about it coming out of the rehabs money. This has been a very crazy day but One thing for sure, Thank goodness, I am putting my two cents in. Because I have not clue where poor Mike would of been tonight. The scary thing is I am not a Dr and they never even thought of the problems that could happen if he left without the medicine. Sorry this is so long, but I needed to vent. Sorry again. Thanks again so much again for everything.
