| My baby is in the hospital :( He is playing, eating, drinking, etc. not acting sick at all. When I came home to let him out to potty on my lunch break today, he had thrown up a yellow/orange color on his blanket. I took him outside to potty, and he threw up again. I rushed him to the vet, and she did some blood tests. One of his kidney levels was off, and his liver level was slightly elevated. He also has sugar in his urine. He has had no changes in his diet/exercise. We have no poison, anti-freze, etc. in or around our house anywhere. Has anyone experienced this? He is only 4 pounds and he is my baby, so I am really scared. Thanks. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so sorry your baby is sick! I can't think of what it may be - but I'm hoping you do find a good answer.

| thanks for the prayers and well wishes The vet is keeping him overnight so he can get fluids and anti-biotics. He is only 3, so I can't imagine it being diabetes or kidney failure at his age. He was in his crate all morning, so there is nothing he could have gotten into. Has anyone ever heard of pancreatitis? My mom said her dog gets this and throws up sometimes. Thanks again and please say prayers for Monkey. |

| My little Max had pancreatitis once too. It was really scary. But they kept him in the doggie hospital over the weekend (I took him in on a Friday evening) and put him on IV fluids (this helps his pancreas settle down and not be so irritated). He was fine when he got home on Monday, thank God! Now, he's on a prescription dog food and he isn't supposed to overeat and it's been probably over a year and he hasn't had any problems since at all. Other than occasionally, if I leave too much food out he'll eat too much and throw it up. But you can always tell when they don't feel good, and this is nothing like what happened before. The vet will probably put him on IV's and then do more blood tests to make sure that the pancreatic enzymes are down and then let him come home. I'll keep little Monkey in my prayers.....hope he'll be just fine in no time!
