| ![]() I wouldn't.... may make the stitches dissolve sooner than they should.

That is what we use when we have c-sections or when regular spay is done ( per our vet order). They can lick and no harm will be done from ingesting it. It also helps the healing process. Of course it has to be a sensible amount. Have a great blessed day. XOXO

| ![]() I'm just seeing your thread. Very happy to hear Zoey's spay went well and that she is recovering nicely. I agree with your vet about the Neosporin. The risk of licking is why I have never used it or cortisone cream on my pups. We use organic coconut oil instead. It has healing and anti-bacterial properties. If something more serious is required, then I would use an e-collar to prevent licking.

| ![]() As long as there is no concern ovet the cream getting the area wet as KJC said, then Neosporin is fine. But as the vet said, licking is not good. Have to prevent it... I use topicals all the time. We just cover it woth clothes or an ecollar. They have licked the meds before. Not a good thing but they lived. ![]()

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() I'm glad you didn't have an problems with the vaseline. Rhett wasn't as lucky. Just a few licks of the vaseline off of his leg resulted in a very messy night. I guess some dogs are more sensitive than others.

| ![]() Hope your baby is doing ok after her spay! When Sachi got spayed, our vet said it was unnecessary to put any topical ointments. As long as you keep the area clean and keep them from licking the area, it should be ok. Our vet did a wonderful job and you can't even see any scarring now. The hardest part was keeping her activity at a minimum for 7-10 days!

| ![]() Much appreciated. Ya just have to try a little something. And see how it goes huh....I left it alone for first 2 days when incision was new then she slept less and was more concerned what that was down there.....that's when vet said tried aloe Vera gel and I remember how soothing that is on irritated skin and it really helped her so ii stuck with that....she is healing nicely and the sweet little thing so appreciates the TLC don't they? Today is day 7 and she wonders why we have all her hyper toys put up and why we are no fun to play with anymore.... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() You are in the home stretch. Unfortunately the last few days before the stitches come out are also the hardest because they feel good and don't want to take it easy.
