| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Hi dear! I read though all these Elliot posts with heart in hand, hoping for the best news at the end! I'm glad to see he's getting better. There are a couple of things that I tell my patients to do when they are going through so many medications, and which will not interfere with what your vet is doing. Milk thistle is the first thing. It will help detox the liver from all those pain pills and other meds. The other is probiotics (at least 10 billion CFU's). The antibiotics that he may have been given will destroy his intestinal flora. By administering probiotics, you wil insure a boost in his immune system. Lastly, a mineral supplement such as CelReady will help him recoup from surgery as well as fortify muscles and bones. Hope that helps. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. | Hello all...wanted to update on Elliott. He is doing very well on the liver diet and meds and continues to get stronger. He is sleeping a lot still but has bouts of energy during the day. I wanted to ask a couple of questions. Wondered on any opinions at this point if I should have the liver biopsy done when we go back to specialist in July. We have him on the meds and diet and don't know if they would treat him any differently. Just don't know if I want to put him through another surgery if it is not necessary. Also we attempted to groom Elliott, I was to afraid to take him to groomer with his neck injury. We did just fine but we are unsure how to groom his face. He does no want anything touching it. We like to keep him close cut in the summer as it is very hot and humid here. Any helpful tips would be appreciated. Thank you again for all of your support and help. |

I don't have any grooming tips other than to perhaps just do a little bit at a time? I am sure someone else might be a bit more creative. Happy to hear that Elliott is doing well!!

| Just a little update....Elliott continues to heal. He is doing great. Still have to keep activity level down until 6 week visit with specialist to make sure neck is mending. We go back on July 23 and will have new blood draw to recheck levels. He is doing great on liver diet food and seems to be more like himself these days. We have been having lots of lap time and movies this summer the whole family takes turns none of us wants to leave him alone yet I don't think he minds not being able to play right now!! Thank you all again for your continued support and good thoughts for our little man, it helps more than you could imagine. We will update after our next appointment. |

| I thought a vet said that none of his symptoms were liver related? In which case I would have the BAT redone (some meds can affect the results) and go from there. Very happy he's doing so well!

| We had Elliott's doctor appointment yesterday and they reran all of his blood work. Came back confirming MVD issue. We are scheduled to see surgeon Friday to schedule CT Scan and Biopsy. Our little man continues to heal from neck surgery and is doing very well. He is even very naughty some days....which makes us very happy your continued good thoughts and prayers are welcome as we navigate this next chapter in getting our little man back to good health. We will update on Friday as we have more information on the results and the next steps. Thank you all for your kind words and helpful information..... |
