Oh no Connie, I am so sorry to hear Libby is sick. I sure hope they can figure out what is causing it and that she has a full and speedy recovery. Your vet sounds great so hopefully he will be able to find the problem and get her fixed up soon.
Poor baby sounds so miserable. I will be saying a prayer for her, give her a hug for me!!

I am so thrilled. Libby's bloating has gone down considerably over night and she has lost about 8 ounces of that added weight. Still above her normal weight, but I am just in awe over the change since last night. She also spent time sniffing in the yard a bit when I let them out this morn, which she hasn't done in about a week. I do believe she is on the mend! Whew! My vet will be calling and if he still wants to do an ultra sound, I will, but I'm thinking he will probably say to wait for now. One really weird thing about Libby and this illness...she normally drinks water like crazy and has just quit drinking water since sick. I add water to her food, so she's getting some, but that is really weird for her. She's not back 100%, but I am just so thankful for this improvement I have seen in her. I'll let you know what my vet says.

Oh my gosh - I can't believe I am just now seeing this. I am so very happy to read your latest update. C'mon Libby! You are such a strong girl - keep it up

I didn't get good news on Libby. I can't stop crying. Her abumin is down to 1.7 I think he said and that is drastically low. He thinks she has lymphangiectasia. He says the bloated belly was acides. He said the reason she is getting better now is because she has been on the metradonzole. He said he could do an ultrasound now, but they have an ultrasoundist that comes once a week and is so much better at it than they are, so he wants me to bring her there on Monday morning at 10 for ultra sound and blood work...not to feed her that day...and leave her there. I feel so sick I can hardly stand it. They will be sending tests to the U of Minnesota and he said the most important thing is diet, which we will be figuring out. He said the prognosis is not good. He also said he will be gone next week so I should stick with the vet I saw because she is good and also a pathologist. My poor baby...I can't stand this. Thank to all who have prayed for her!

Oh Connie! Lymphangiectasia can be managed by diet, don't lose hope! Many on here are doing it successfully. Praying for you both...

Connie, that is very low and scary. When Cookies was that low they considered giving her plasma if she did not respond. I personally would not be comfortable waiting for another week. If you can, I would get her to an internal med specialist lickety split. My Cookie has lymphangectasia. When she was that low she was admitted to the hospital. It is very, very important to get them stabilized and eating. They usually have them on steroids in addition to antibiotics. I believe she was on two different antibiotics. Yes, diet is key in the treatment, but I can tell you that Cookie will remain on Prednisone for the rest of her life. She has had this since December 2011 and is doing fantastic...luckily she responded immediately and her protein levels started going up right away. She gets checked every 3 - 4 months now but she has NO symptoms and has had no further issues. I meant to say that it is Thursday that I bring her in for the ultrasound and bloodwork. Libby is eating...that's one thing she hasn't stopped doing. She sleeps a lot, but she still plays a bit if I get on the floor and say, "Who wants to play." She comes running. She is the most playful pup I've ever seen. Linda...do you think I probably shouldn't have her play? Would that do more bad than good?

I am happy to hear she is eating...that is a big problem with these pups. No, I would not restrict her if she were mine. You might want to ask the vet to be sure, but I don't think playing is a bad thing.
