Connie you and Libby remain in my thoughts and prayers. What a nerve wracking time for you.

You might try turning a potty pad upside down (plastic side facing up) to get a urine sample. If you don't use potty pads, try putting a plastic bag in the area where she goes, perhaps you will get lucky and catch some. It won't be sterile, but it may be clean enough to work.

Finally SUCCESS! Thank you for all your suggestions and I tried them all. I even took a new plastic table cover and put out in the yard yesterday, but that freaked her out. Everything I tried failed. So, as a last ditch effort, I did what I had done with Maddie once when we needed urine, but really didn't think Libby would go for it. I took a little medicine cup and put over her pee pee...then I put a diaper on her to hold it in place. I took her outside and found the driest area in the yard and put her down. I then stepped away so she wouldn't get nervous about what I would do. I told her to go potty, and she squatted and peed for a long time. As soon as she was done, I got the diaper off and a very large amount of urine in that little cup! I was nervous because the diaper was wet and I feared there'd be none in the cup, but there was. Yeah! Way to go, my little Libby! I got it right up to the clinic and waiting for them to call with results.

Yea for successful urine sample collection. I have always worried if i needed to do that how I would do it. My good thoughts and prayers are for Libby that you get a diagnosis of a less complicated illness

What a morning this has been. My vet had said her ultra sound would be at 2 today and that he was rearranging his schedule to be there. I called this morn at 8 to talk to the girl I was supposed to, to find out when to have Libby there and got her answering machine. I'd left a message yesterday and hadn't been called back, so after 10 minutes or so, I called the clinic. I was told to bring her right up! I was not even dressed. I imagine with the storm, that lady got there early. I threw on some clothes...didn't even put socks on...and took Libby up. I asked them if Dr. Pinkerton was there because he wanted to be there for her ultrasound. He wasn't there, but they would call him. They couldn't get ahold of him and went ahead with the ultrasound. I picked her up about 11:30 after her blood tests and am to meet with Dr. Pinkerton at 2. About all I know so far is that her urine is clear, which is a big relief. I think my sister will go with me to meet with my vet. I hope she can, anyway. I'll update later. Libby is losing muscle mass and weight daily. I'm so scared.

I just read about how you got the urine! That is awesome

Very happy to hear it was clear. Praying for good news from the ultrasound and that the Vet can do what needs to be done to help her gain that weight back. Praying for Libby and for you!

I'm scared for you and Libby too. I hope your vet has some additional insight when you see him and I will be looking for your update. I hope that you get some positive news. I'm sorry you and Libby are going through this. I will keep you both in my prayers Connie.
