Thank you all so much, for your prayers. Yesterday I woke for the first time feeling hopeful...Libby did her morning happy dance and hadn't done that for a week or so. Today I woke with the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, consumed with fear, and Libby isn't as spunky. She ate and curled up back to sleep. Her ultrasound was postponed until tomorrow. I was so upset and it is not my vet's fault, but the specialists who changed it. I was unsuccessful at getting a urine sample yesterday. Praying I can today. My vet reminded me about the blood in her urine and if it is still there, we have to find out where that's coming from. For those of you possibly upset with me for not taking Libby to an internist, they wouldn't be able to do anything either, until the urine is clear. My vet is very much on top of things. I thought that when they would send the tests to U of M, and we would be waiting again, but we will know tomorrow...my vet has rearranged his schedule to be at Libby's ultrasound and they run the blood tests there and at the hospital, so we should have a very good picture tomorrow. I'm not sure what will go to the U of M...possibly the B12 test and folic acid test, or maybe sending all test results for a consult. My vet is not some old hick...he is a very caring and wonderful man who goes to extremes for his patients. According to research I've done, he is doing everything right. The reason for the wait is because of Libby's infection. He doesn't just guess on things...he researches and consults. He even came to my home one evening after he left the clinic to check on my daughter's dog...I didn't ask him too...he called me to see if it would be okay for him to stop and check on Kirby. I pray I can manage to get a urine sample today and also pray that that specialist makes it there tomorrow. Yet another winter storm heading our way.

Just a suggestion: Another sometimes helpful test with intestinal issues is to send a stool sample to the lab for analysis. Just something you can do in the meantime.

I'm so sorry that you have to wait another day. I hope Libby's urine clears quickly. My vet has me use a large soup spoon or ladle, duck taped to a broom stick handle to collect urine samples. Works good bc there's no bending over involved, which as soon as mine see me move, they stop!

Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers...

Kathy...Thank you...I just tried that...as soon as it went under her she quit and jumped away. They did a stool sample test when I was there 9 days ago and all was clear.

Did they send it out to a lab? The lab does a more thorough workup on it than what is done at the vet's office.

Another suggestion: When I am unable to get a urine specimen, my vet has the lab techs try and if they cannot and IF the pup is very ill and needs it done, my vet does it by cysto. It is a small needle and the pups usually don't even feel it.

I have had to have the Cysto done on my Allie, it doesn't bother them at all.

Prayers still going out for Libby.
