| Sure anything help. I will add that in her last few years after her ops it didn't effect her quality of life at all, she lived happy and healthy and could take long walks and camping trips, even when we could feel new little lumps forming. Just one day she went off her food, then she went down hill pretty fast. After three weeks of anti biotics and other treatment we decided the cancer must have spread and made the decision to end her suffering. |

| You are an angel for sticking it through with her & making her last years so fulfilling...even going camping! Too bad all stories don't have a happy ending like that. I'm thinking that Sophie's cancer has probably spread to the point that the doctors are wondering if surgery would even be worth it. She's only 7 or 8, but that ruptured tumor is a sure sign of neglect. Who knows what else is going on inside that little body of hers. I wish I could do more for her. But I'm not her owner & she's in the care of a rescue right now. So it's not like I have any say in the matter. It must be so frustrating for animal rescuers to do what they do. I can't imagine having to live through situations like this every single day. Thank you for your support!

| Yeah so true, I'm not sure if I would be strong enough to see cruelty and abuse day in day out and still go back. But I'm so glad they are there though. Who knows where animals would be without their help! Hope her story has a happy ending. x |

| Praying for sweet Sophie. I am at least glad to know she's resting and is on pain killers so she's not hurting right now while they wait. What a darling little girl. Her picture brought tears to my eyes!

| I have an elderly rescue that had mammary tumors all over when I got her. They did two different surgeries removing everything four years ago. Then she had a small tumor appear at the belly button that we've been watching. Well 2 weeks ago it grew and they removed it last week. It was a sweat gland adneocarcinoma. An aggressive cancer and even though he got clear margins she will have to have a chest x-ray in a month or so and be watched closely because some cancer cells could have been shed. I knew it was probably cancer going in but hoping that by removing it we would get more time with her. Praying for your little rescue. She looks so sweet. |

| There really is no new news about little Sophie. She's still hospitalized at my friend's vet office No one has claimed her yet. She's on IV pain killers, but I feel so bad for her all alone without her person - or ANY person for that matter The woman from the rescue is probably so annoyed with me & my friend always bugging her for updates. According to the vet, the cancer has spread. But since I am not the owner of the dog, there's only so much they can tell me. *Sigh* I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that somehow Sophie will pull through. This is such a horrible way for any creature to have to live out their final days. Thank you all for your support.

| Sending prayers for all the poor dogs fighting cancer in this thread and hugs to the wonderful owners, rescuers, and advocates looking out for them.

| Sophie Update Since the mandatory 72 hour waiting period is now over, the rescue was able to go over the details about Sophie's medical condition with me. No one claimed her. She is in so much pain that she won't allow anyone to hold her & she tries to bite anyone who even tries to touch her. The ruptured tumor on her tummy is constantly leaking, the discharge has matted all of her hair on her belly, and she smells of dead tissue. The tumor is about 6 inches in length. The cancer has spread throughout her body, into her lymph nodes and lungs. According to the vet, she is inoperative. As much as I want to help this little girl, I completely understand the medical professionals & the rescue's decision to put her down. Although I am thrilled that they actually called me before they made a final decision, I almost wish that they hadn't. I sort of wish that I would have been blown off instead of having to know that Sophie is suffering & can't be saved. It hurts me inside to know that she spent her final days in a cage in the back of a vet's office - in severe pain waiting for her person who never came. I'm sure this type of thing happens all the time. Sophie has become a statistic, just another little number mixed up with all the other digits that represent the selfishness & ignorance of humans. I truly applaud those of you in the rescue field who volunteer your time, effort & finances to help these innocent pups. I don't know how you do it. I'm just glad that someone does.

| Bless that baby girl. You did all you could do and so did the doctors. At least now, she will be pain free and running and playing at rainbow bridge. Rest in PEACE dear Sophie!!

| Oh my, I just now saw this thread about Sophia and read beginning to end. I am in tears at how horribly her owners neglected this sweet young baby girl. What in the world is wrong with people to treat a living being in this manner. I will do without food or needs for myself before I would let one of my babies suffer for a moment. This is just so so sad. You are an angel for trying to help this baby and to get her story out.
