| Help! My baby has REALLY STINKY gas :( My little girl didn't show any interest in eating yesterday - not typical at all of her. She's usually a piggy & will eat anything. She seemed a little lethargic & she vomited some clear saliva. When I picked her up so she wouldn't step in the vomit, she was trembling a little. I got scared & took her to the vet. She's not dehydrated/hypoglycemic, but my vet put her on Metronidazole in case she had a bacterial infection. We also changed her probiotic to a chewable vs. powder. She's eating now. Here's the thing...at the vet last night, she let out a little poof of really stinky gas on the exam table. And now, she's had REALLY stinky butt ALL DAY I called my vet, but he's in surgery. I read on an old thread that it's okay to give them children's Pepto or a liquid for gas. The thread was from 2009. So I'm wondering if that would still be okay. Has anyone given their pup over the counter people medication for gas? She is eating today & seems back to her old self. I did give her a dose of the Metronidazole early this morning. I'm running out to get blizzard supplies & figured I'd grab some Pepto or something just in case. Thanks!!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | What does stinky butt all day mean? Does it mean that she's continually letting out gas, or does it mean her butt stinks? I personally wouldn't give any meds without the vets okay. I know Pepto is given for upset tummies, but I don't think it will help with gas. When you say she'll eat anything, could she have eaten food that upset her. If she often has gas, I'd do a food switch. Hope shes feeling better soon. Gas is a symptom that something isn't digesting right.

| Stinky butt means she's been farting all day long. Yeah, I'll wait for the vet to call me back...especially since I was just there yesterday. I'd hate to give her something that might hurt her or change the effect of the medication she's on. There's definitely something going on with her tummy. But her tummy is usually rock solid. No change in food lately. But she might have eaten something she picked up off the floor. I guess I'll just suck it up & deal. I gave her chicken & rice this morning. Hopefully, it will clear up soon & her tummy will be back to normal.

I didn't start really noticing the gas until this morning. So maybe it is the medication. I'll update when I get a call back. Thanks!

| So the doctor told me that the gas is probably from the medicine. He said to wait a few days & if it doesn't go away to call him back. I have an appointment for my other pup on Tuesday. So I'll follow up with him then. At least now I know what expect from Metronidazole...SERIOUS STINKY BUTT! Thanks for your help
