An aggressive cancer and even though he got clear margins she will have to have a chest x-ray in a month or so and be watched closely because some cancer cells could have been shed. I knew it was probably cancer going in but hoping that by removing it we would get more time with her. Praying for your little rescue. She looks so sweet.
I feel you. My 10 year old Lab has stage 3 melanoma in his jaw. We removed the tumor almost one year ago & so far, it hasn't spread. However, the the tumor did come back - right in the middle of radiation & DNA therapy! It is a very aggressive cancer. We're now in the process of deciding whether or not to have the tumor removed again. Although it has now grown so that it is uprooting one of his teeth & it has moved into his palete. I want to avaoid having any part of his jaw removed. I can't even imagine forcing him to have to recover from a procedure like that. But quality of life wise, he hasn't changed a bit! He still gobbles down his food. He still plays in the snow. He isn't even loosing weight. So I'm very torn about what to do. I'm actually meeting with my vet on Monday to discuss options.

Good luck with your little girl! I'll keep my fingers crossed for her!
