| ![]() I am really sorry that she is so sick. I wish I could offer another idea for you but sadly when they are that ill, it is either spend the money or not....and quite frankly even if we spend the money sometimes they are just too sick to save. It is just horrible to have such a sick pup. I will pray for all of you....I really do know how awful it is to have a sick pup.

It was and is. Can't expect to just have surgery and send her home without running tests and caring for her after major surgery.

She seems fine now which blows. I looked up pancreatitis and it doesn't require surgery unless I'm spelling it wrong. Pancrea-i-tice (sp?), sorry I'm not the brightest bulb.

Gotcha, sorry but the drive home after work wasn't the greatest after talking with the wife. When I answered she seemed fine and I expected to hear better news.

![]() ![]() No, it does not require surgery...usually hospitalization though for IV fluids. I am just a bit concerned about her need for Vit K. She must have something going on with her clotting factor.

My wife said she was told it's low because of her liver (since she has jaundice). I don't see how it's pancreatitis if my 2nd vet and this one today said the ultrasound showed her gall bladder as extremely enlarged and she has jaundice. They said if it was this (pancreatitis) they would have to reroute her lower intestines. Last edited by danieloneil01; 12-27-2012 at 05:49 PM.

They will be sending you and your vet a full report. They will email it to you and it explains everything in detail. I imagine you will receive it tomorrow. Then, perhaps it will all make more sense. It is hard to digest all of the information when you are in the appt. I am so sure your wife was stressed...I never walk out of there totally understanding all of what they tell me. It is always easier to read the report.

| ![]() What a terrible dilemma!!! So much input and I am sure you are a little dazed and confused. Let us not argue here, but just sleep on all the info and talk with a general vet who may be able to calmly clarify things for you. It sounds to be a very complex situation that no one here can solve. We are not vets and do not have the complete data to go on. We may have similar experiences but we do not have this exact situation. Again, so sorry. |

| ![]() Here are some links that I used that were helpful when my Olivia was sick. She ended up with a diagnosis of cholangiohepatitis. She also has a protein losing nephropathy...but that was a side thing we found when diagnosing the gall bladder and liver issues. I never understand what they're telling me so it was better that she went. They always try to explain it to me but it's like they're talking in German and I just nod my head. She was also told she has no infections. Last edited by danieloneil01; 12-27-2012 at 06:13 PM. | |
