2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Keep up the good work. Sending more good wishes and a prayer your way!! Have you considered bottle feeding her? It may seem a step back at this age, but anything to get her eating would be worth the try at this point. There are some good puppy supplement recipes available on line or even on YT if you ask.

| I recently had to use the A/D diet. I wanted to continue the diet because my injured elderly rescue was responding so well to the high calorie diet. My vet didn't want me to continue the high calorie, high fat, high protein diet for a long time due the risk of pancreatitis. Maybe the combo of A/D and peanut butter is too much of a good thing. I have used the goat's milk must as a transition from nursing puppies to weaning. Also, I sustained a cleft pallet puppy with goats milk for 2 weeks before a tube feeding accident claimed him. Hope your little pup does better soon. |

| I know this may sound a little crazy, but would your animal hospital consider admitting her and tube feeding her until she gained some weight and some strength?? I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I know our specialty animal hospital here is staffed 24hrs a day. Just a thought if you cannot get her to eat at all. Best of luck to you and your daughter....saying prayers for all three of you that Bella improves and thrives.

| Have you tried an expen to keep Bella in your room? You can line the floor with piddle pads of "her room" you create with the expen. She'll be confined, safe, and close to you for feedings.

| Good evening everyone, Thanks as always for your concern for our sweet Baby bella. Today, I've fed Bella every 3 hours around the clock. She is still not eating voluntarily. Prying that ring mouth open is a chore! I found the goats milk and she loves it!! We were amazed that she actually drank the milk on her own after I fed her!! She's had two doses of the goats milk. Her next feeding is in 20 minutes. She's still on both antibiotics- albon snd metrozonadol (sp). Those of you who've had experience with Coccidia, can you tell me how long before you saw improvements in behavior once the antibiotics started? The vet says she can put her back on IV fluids if we choose or we can keep caring for her at home. Bella is still pooping diarrhea, today with blood in the stool. No clots or bright red blood. This is her fourth day with diarrhea. I'm sure her little bottom is sore. How often should I give her the goats milk? I want this baby to feel better soon. I see other healthy puppies and it just breaks my heart for Bella. I'm hanging in there I suppose... The tears seem to keep coming.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | thank you for caring, is going to take about 10 days before the diarreah clears up, the most important thing is to keep her hydrated and making sure she is eating and drinking. and VERY important that you must keep up with her meds, the Albon should started clearing her up already, you have to just keep at it she will show improvement soon, glad she is liking the goats milk, now try mixing it with the food the vet gave you. also, buy a bottle of Unflavored Pedialyte and give her at least 1/4 of a cup a day that will keep her electrolites up.. My best friend had a coccidia puppy a few years ago and that is what we did and she got better in a couple of weeks.. Hope this helps.. |

| Hi Carmen! I picked up strawberry pedialyte but will get unflavored tomorrow and work on getting that in her. I'll also start mixing the goats milk into her food. I'd been heating the goats milk- is that ok? Tonight she just pooped a brown poop that actually looks like poop for first time!!!! Yay!! It's not green anymore. Still a bit bloody. I can't wait until she gets her appetite back and actually wants/enjoys her food. Thank you for your encouragement! Hugs from Baby Bella, mommy and Gracie!

| In no way do I claim to know anything about the illness this pup is suffering with so please keep that in mind as you read further. I have wondered about giving the pup milk? I realize she would normally still be nursing from her Mother at this young age but with human children there are times when thier digestive system needs a break even from their Mother's milk. Sometimes human children are put on clear fluids for a time because their intestinal flora is all messed up from an illness and so to get the bowels to settle down they are given no solid food and no milk for a couple of days. Would something like that be worth discussing with the Vet or is this a completely different senario? The other thing that I wanted to mention is that a couple of years ago our big pup got terribly ill and had watery stool etc. After the visit to the Vet I did some major reading about how to help his loose watery stool. He is a greyhound/deerhound and their digestive systems can sometimes be very touchy and I didn't want to risk a bunch of drugs if we could at all avoid it because they can also be sensitive to drugs. I came across a bunch of information about using rice water to help with watery stool and to help settle the digestive system and provide nutrition. Apparently it works really well for humans too. I can't remember the exact process and amounts but I'm sure a quick internet search would bring up the info quite easily. Basically you cook a bunch of rice in more water than normal and then drain off all the water and solely feed that for a couple of days. It worked very well in our situation but I have no idea if using rice water is advisable in this instance and I would deffinitely discuss things with the Vet before considering something like this. Again please keep in mind I am simply asking and not suggesting anything. These are just a couple of things that crossed my mind as I read through the posts and so I thought I would bring them up in case something like this might help. I wish you well as you take care of your little pup and hope she gets better. |

| Please keep on top of this & if she doesn't seem 100% by the time she's done with All her meds then get her back to the vet ASAP as coccidia can kill your dog if it gets out of control. It is not common but can happen. If she does not respond to this round of med then I would insist they keep her & put her on IV antibiotics. My uncle had a tiny Chi pup who had coccidia & the vet kept her for a few days then sent her home with the meds that she would throw up Every time they gave them to her. She spent a total of 3 wks out of 5 wks in the hospital & each time they would keep her for 2 to 4 days & sent her home. They should have never sent her home as long as she could not keep her food or meds down. The coccidia got out of control & she died as it went to her liver kidneys & brain. She should have been put on IV antibiotics from the very beginning as she had a severe case from the beginning. |
