I have wondered about giving the pup milk? I realize she would normally still be nursing from her Mother at this young age but with human children there are times when thier digestive system needs a break even from their Mother's milk. Sometimes human children are put on clear fluids for a time because their intestinal flora is all messed up from an illness and so to get the bowels to settle down they are given no solid food and no milk for a couple of days. Would something like that be worth discussing with the Vet or is this a completely different senario?
The other thing that I wanted to mention is that a couple of years ago our big pup got terribly ill and had watery stool etc. After the visit to the Vet I did some major reading about how to help his loose watery stool. He is a greyhound/deerhound and their digestive systems can sometimes be very touchy and I didn't want to risk a bunch of drugs if we could at all avoid it because they can also be sensitive to drugs. I came across a bunch of information about using rice water to help with watery stool and to help settle the digestive system and provide nutrition.
Apparently it works really well for humans too. I can't remember the exact process and amounts but I'm sure a quick internet search would bring up the info quite easily. Basically you cook a bunch of rice in more water than normal and then drain off all the water and solely feed that for a couple of days. It worked very well in our situation but I have no idea if using rice water is advisable in this instance and I would deffinitely discuss things with the Vet before considering something like this.
Again please keep in mind I am simply asking and not suggesting anything. These are just a couple of things that crossed my mind as I read through the posts and so I thought I would bring them up in case something like this might help.
