Awww, I'm sorry. I know this must be incredibly hard for you. Getting some rest is probably the best thing you can do for yourself right now.

It's a good thing that they're keeping her, I think. The sooner they fix her the sooner she'll stop suffering. She'll be up and playing before you know it. As always, I'm sending lots of prayers for Basil and her medical team.

I had a feeling they would keep her for a procedure, and I really don't think your update was horrific. I think it's good that they are going to take care of things right away. Poor Basil needs some relief. However, I know nothing about this kind of technique and procedure. Did the vet say if this is common or that he foresees any issues? What is the likelihood for full recovery?

I am so sorry....it is so hard to have a sick pup and leave them like that.

I'm glad to hear that they are now treating her. Hopefully this will help to alleviate what has been causing so much pain to your sweet baby.

As difficult as it is know that she is in capable hands and things are being done to to correct a very painful situation. Rest up because you do not want to get sick from stress and exhaustion. Prayers and healing thoughts are being sent to Basil from Yorkie lovers all over the world. We are sending her a golden healing light to surround her with love and strength to get through the procedures and for wisdom and skill to the specialists who are taking care of her. Wear an old tshirt or take an old towel to bed, something you won't mind not getting back, and take it to her tomorrow so she has something with your scent on it to comfort her. Wishing you and your fiance a deep restful sleep tonight as you will need to be Nurse Momma again when she comes home.

Just got off the phone with the specialist, and it isn't good.

She is sleeping comfortably with pain medicine. The stricture they were going to attack wasn't the case. They said she has developed secondary megacolon from severe constipation and straining.

They are going to let her come home to me tomorrow with prednisone, low residue wet puppy food by iams, and luctolose and pain medicine. if the switch in diet doesn't work, surgery will be in order and we will have to figure out how much surgery will cost and finance it into our tight budget. the surgery is called sub total colectomy. they would remove the infected part of her colon. so sad..... so very, very sad.... i know it's not my fault, but I wish I could reverse it. i am soooo soooo sad.......

a group hug is a nice thing...
