Problems with # 2. I have had Basil for 1 month and 1 weeks. She is 3 months old. If you look up my threads you will see a continuous thread about her condition. It is pretty upsetting and scary. Anyone have any of these issues with their yorkie? please read my previous threads. it will go all into detail since i have been trying to get help for her. |
I'm linking your thread and a couple of your posts to make sure they are seen: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ubles-2-a.html Quote:

Thank you! Heading to the other vet tomorrow for shots and with xrays. The regular stuff to do. 3rd round of distemper and deworming. 1 more to go! Plus going to tell her see I told you she was messed up. It's the SPCA vet, the shots are super cheap their. |
Video Here is a link to the video of Basil trying to go to the bathroom. Maybe seeing her in the process will show what she is going through. Mind you it is kind of a hard video to watch. Please feel free to stop the video if you can't watch it anymore. This also isn't the worse it has been, this is one of the easier moments, but with no progress. :aimeeyork |
Oh poor sweet Basil. This so sad. I hope the Vet's are able to do something for her. Those little whimpers are just so very, very sad. |
That is just terrible...just makes you hurt watching her. Sure hope the vet finds out want is wrong and your little baby gets some help real soon. |
How is your current Vet dealing with the pain? I feel so sorry for any puppy in that much pain. I would be on my way to a Specialist ASAP and would not 'wait and see if he grows out of it". Not after that video. This has been going on a long time. Ask your vet for a referral then please take your baby to a specialist. I am concerned at any dog in this much pain. Sometimes a dog will have a problem that is beyond your general Vet. Has he seen the video?? |
You need to get this dog to a specialist or turn it over to a rescue that will |
Hi. Sorry your baby is having these problems. I just wanted to say that it would be best not to have this surgery at the same time as her spay. There is too great a risk of infection just opening the bowel, and if spaying were to be done too, you'd be providing more places for the infection to rapidly go. Also, these are two major surgeries, recovery would be horrible. Fix the bowel... the spay can wait until she's fully recovered from this and her system is back to normal. She'll then be able to recover quickly from the spay. Does your vet know what caused the pocket to form? |
Poor little angel. In reading a previous post it looks like she has been seen by a specialist??? If not..I strongly suggest you get a second opinion from one. I would not allow anyone to repair that other than a board certified vet surgeon. |
I'm so sorry. :( It's obvious you love your pup so much. Spaying isn't something that needs to be thought about right now. This problem has to be fixed. I'd worry about the spay later... In most states you do not need a referral to see a specialist. You can (and should) just go. If the specialist wants to wait to repair it, they will probably put on on some more drugs to try and keep her comfortable. When she gets diarrhea from the lactulose, is she still in pain? the dose can be adjusted. |
I'm confused. Having read the previous thread, it's unclear what the treatment plan is. Are you hoping she will "outgrow" the condition because finances are an issue for surgery? How much is the surgery? I think if surgery will correct the problem, that is the answer. Has she been seen by a surgeon? Care credit is a wonderful option if you don't have the cash. There are several payment plans that will fit just about anybody's budget. Can you clarify the plan for her treatment? |
Here are a link to two previous puppies that had what sounds to me like the same problem. I remember the first puppy so well. There was a video but it has now been removed. I don't know what ever happened with him. It was very upsetting to watch. :( http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-included.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...gacolon-2.html |

Poor baby. I could not stand to see my baby like that. I would do whatever it takes to get her out of pain. I have a Care Credit card for my babies. When Pixie had her LP surgery last summer I used it and it allowed me to pay off the 2500.00 in 12 months interest free. Many vets and specialty clinics will take it. You can usually apply and get approval right at the vets office. Have they said how much the surgery will be and what her recovery will be. When my pom had a herniated anus the specialist said it would be about 1000.00 for surgery. I am not sure if it is a similar procedure. Please keep us posted. |
