| just popping in to get an update on Daisy. Joyce, don't worry about Daisy's reactions last night, it is probably because she is very tired. I am sure that she's very happy to be home with her family. Just give her lots of lovin's. Please give her kisses and hugs from me. Will continue to send good thoughts and lots of prayers your way. Hugs.

| The Lepto vaccine is well known to cause problems in dogs. I remain very confused as to how that would have anything to do with a reaction to a medication.

| Hi. I've been following this thread, but didn't feel the need to post till now. Just wanted to say that first: I hope and pray that Daisy is doing well and feeling better. Second: Don't get too freaked out about those numbers. My LS dog ingested rancid cooking grease (amt unknown) and puked for 2-3 days. I was suspicious of Pancreatitis, so took her in to be checked. Her ALT was 433 and AST 230, no Pancreatitis. Recheck in one month ALT=544, AST=299. All I learned was that ALT generally means liver cell death. She is on Denamarin which protects the cells and supports liver cell regeneration. It is normal for the AST to increase concurrently with the ALT. It took 3 months for her values to drop. And they increased the first month! 4doggiesmama's Chipper's ALT was 1830, and had slightly elevated BATS. Due to be retested... need to check for an update. Question: Daisy had crystals in her urine in the beginning of June? UTI and crystals can be frequent occurence in dogs with LS/MVD. She was put on pain meds for limping? Tramadol? Maybe combination of Tramadol (in her system) with the Doxy caused liver problem? Just a thought. Or Phenobarbitol (barbiturate) will affect liver enzymes... don't know how close to Tramidol (opiate agonists) that is or effect on liver enzymes. A small liver on xray can be indicative of LS, but for a 6 year old IDK, thought it would have been discovered before now. Any Xrays previously taken to compare with? Even from different vet? Years ago? Just some thoughts... also, many times the exact reason(s) for elevated ALT is never found, just providing liver support seems to eventually help the liver to heal itself over time. Hope this has helped... Praying for sweet Daisy.. ![]() My 13 YO Peek a Boo's life was saved when he contracted pneumonia... vet put him on Doxy.(for a month)

Ok example maybe you have heard of this maybe not. Lot's of people are allergic to peanuts & lot's of people are allergic to strawberries. A huge # of people who are allergic to one are also allergic to the other. So if you have a tennancy to have allergic reactions to meds then you should deff stay away from the ones that have large % of know allergic reactions because you run a bigger chance of having a reaction to it then someone who has no known allergies. Make sense ?

Daisy has only had 2 UTI in her life once when she was 2 and another one when she was 5. Daisy developed crystals in june Daisy is 6 1/2. If the liver is small my question is why? Can it heal itself or is it sadly too late. I have racked my brains at what went wrong but I have to say I have always been pretty careful with Daisy and what I fed her and what vacinations she got. They always have to give Daisy a shot of benydral beofre a vacintaion bc she has horrible reactions. I take Daisy to get one shot at a time. I don't know what went wrong and I wish I could rewind the tape of life and fix whatever did go wrong but I can't and I am heart sick that this has happend and I will blame myself forever if she doesn't pull through bc I did NOT research the doxycycline.

![]() Do not blame yourself as you did not know and you trusted the professionals which most people do. It seems it is due to her sensitivity to things as you have described so she was probably sensitive to this medication as well Hang in there - is she doing better tonight?

I actually do understand the allergic response and I don't understand this at all. I have never heard of someone being told to avoid strawberries because they are allergic to peanuts. If that were the case, heck they probably should not eat much of anything because a person can develop an allergy to anything at any time. The lepto vaccine is well known to cause problems. I have never heard of someone being told to avoid doxycycline because they had a problem with the lepto vaccine. I keep saying that and some people want to explain it without any real evidence that it is true. That is all I asked for...information that does prove this theory. And, as far as I know, Doxycycline is no more of an issue than many other antibiotics. I cannot count how many dogs I have given it to over the past few years. Some for extended periods since that is what is recommended with heartworm treatment. None have had any problems.

Blaming yourself is not productive. You just need to take care of Daisy now..and yourself. I hate to see you beating yourself up like this.

| Daisy did really well today and I think she felt a little better ![]() she stole Pixie's dirty duck and ran down the hall with it but that was the end of it. Daisy did keep her food down You have to understand that I would do anything to change this and I am praying every second that God puts his healing hand on Daisy's liver. Daisy has been my best friend and I have gone through some pretty tough times and she has never judged me bc my hair was messy or I had bad breath or gained a few lbs ![]() she loves me no matter what! there are so many things that I love about her. The one I love the most is how she runs down the hall and greets me at the front door when she hears my car pull in the driveway and puts her paws on my leg and I have to bend down for a million warm wet kisses. She is always the first one there when I set a glass of ice water on the coffee table or floor to quickly drink it up no matter if she has a full fresh bowl or not. As soon as she see me with my ice water she is like ok where are you setting it down and don't mind if I do ![]() She is a great watch dog and a very good listener when I am having a bad day. she was amazing when we brought Pixie home and always has been very gentle with Pixie even when Pixie is biting the heck out of her ears. Somehow I think Pixie knows Daisy isn't feeling well bc Pixie is being gentle ![]() I thought I would put some positive input in this thread bc I was getting very sad ![]() We need to focus on getting Daisy onto recovery and forget why or how it happened. It did and there is NOTHING I can do to change it I just have to move forward in the RIGHT direction. So if anyone has any guidance I appreciate it. I know everyone has their own opinions and I respect them all

| I am so relieved to know she is doing well for you at home. I love that she stole the duck, even briefly. I will keep all of you in my prayers and thoughts. Try not to think about what has happened, but focus on what needs to be done to help her to be better. May tomorrow be even better than today. Quote:

| I am so glad to hear that Daisy was feeling better today. I know your heart jumped with joy seeing her run and play today. That's a good sign that she kept her food down. I will continue to pray for little Daisy.
