DO rescues ever surrender a dog back to their owner? I have no idea how it works at all. But I for one would donate what I could to a rescue who would help this caring owner and babygirl yorkie be reunited, if anyway possible, after surgery.
Usually they don't, but I would think they would access each situation. In a situation where a pup required major medical attention they would place the dog with an approved family that understands the care for such a pup.

Ok, I admit I have short term memory loss from Encephalitis. I see 120 posts, and lot of bickering, and lot of back slapping, but I have to ask, what is the outcome here? All I can see is a lady with cancer under a gread deal of stress and a sick dog. Unfortunatley, tough love does not work for everyone. Some resist and will push away. So what is the outcome?

I agree with Maryeverette, Love how you all just jump on her. She had some very valid points. This thread is getting to the point of no return. Dogs and people get sick. Show some compassion to the lady. How the heck do you think she feels. Seriously, I need to just take some time off from YT. I only came here looking for a future breeder to get a pup from someday. That mission has been accomplished. With this group, I feel like a bull in a china shop. I can see now why this site in not on the Marine Corps list of recommended reading. Have a great day.

Usually they don't and in this case with all the medical problems this dog has it is very doubtful because this dog needs to be with someone who has an open checkbook. If you read all the threads since November there is so many problems with this dog...it is sad.

Most reputable rescue would never take your money based on the dog being returned to the owner because so many things can happen and every rescue looks at all situations on a case by case basis.

I'd rather show compassion for the dog.
No one here is blind to the fact that this is a very difficult situation for her and I believe that she has everyone's sympathy for that. But the bottom line is, the dog needs help and rather than choosing to surrender the dog so she can get the help she needs, she has elected to allow her to continue suffering so that she can keep her. No amount of foot stomping and lecturing is going to change that. And there is NO justification for it. Again, if the well being of this dog is not what you see as the most important issue, then you are on the wrong forum.
What's the outcome, you ask? Yet another diversion from the real issue--the health of a dog--for the sake of lecturing people on how to be nice.

You are right, this is the wrong forum for me, but I will stick around regardless. We disagree, and life will go on.

If the dog is surrendered and donations can be given for the medical care, someone please post a link for a paypal donation.

Clearly there is a misconception as to what the purpose of a "rescue" organization is. They are there to take dogs, have them treated when needed, have them rehabilitated and trained when possible, and to have them placed in loving capable homes when lucky. They are NOT there to foot the bill for an owners vet expenses when they cannot afford it themselves. When rescues start offering that service, please let me know so I can sign up.

So glad you continue to stick around in spite of subjects you may not agree with.

In answer to your question: If we are informed of the rescue a dog is surrendered to, donations can be made towards that particular dog's medical treatment.

I'm curious. Auburn is one of the top vet schools in the nation. They are 45 min from Marietta and I know for a fact they perform these types of procedures. Chances are extremely likely that any vet you encounter in that part of GA graduated from AU. Have any of them explored the options you have by having her treated there? Have you spoken with any rescues in YOUR area that would be willing to work with that institution to have her treated?

So, where's this whole thing at? Last I saw was that Roriee would be surrendered but transport was the problem. If there's another option, can someone please offer it? All this who's nice/not nice and shoulda/woulda/coulda doesn't do one thing for this dog. I did see where Jenn posted a link. If rescues really do network, can't some better option be found other than taking Roriee to Michigan? This is a sad case and the focus should be entirely on getting this girl the help she needs.

To the OPer......you said that there were funds collected to help pay for medical bills. If so, buy a ticket and either you or someone you know can fly her in cabin to Michigan. Heck-fly to Chicago and I will meet you at the airport and I will drive her to Michigan. It's only about 2 hour or so from me. Just let me know and I will be at either OHare or Midway to pick up Roriee and get her to the rescue she needs to go to for help.

WHo is the top rescuer here?
If the poster releases her dog, to a rescue in Georgia, can she tell them the story and the rescuer from here talk with georgia rescue so we all know this dog is getting the care she desperately needs...and donations are made from yorkietalk......possibly allowing this dog and owner to reunit again?
SOMetimes there are special cases arent there?

Look into having treatment in Auburn, completely taking transportation out of the problem as an issue. Speak with the rescue Jenn posted. See if they will take her and have it done. Give them the funds that you have collected for her treatement so far to help.
Have the rescue set up a fund just for her that pays to them. I suspect that many here will help.

No one is saying the dog is not the first priority!! She is!!!! Everyone 100% agrees with that! But you are forgetting the fact that to get to the dog you have to go through the lady first! No one is justifying what she has or has not done to contribute to the pain and suffering of this dog either! What good does it do to beat her over the head with past mistakes except to get her to run to someone or somewhere else which means this dog stays in pain longer! All I'm trying to say is can we figure out a way to rescue the dog without making the person in charge of the dog take off? Beat away once you have the dog in a solution that lessens her pain! If the dog is the priority that would seem incredibly obvious. The focus needs to be doing whatever is necessary and practical to get this dog help. And since the human is in charge and the rescuers need to go through her it would make sense to at least try and be civil while someone tries to obtain this suffering baby! That is the real issue. The name calling and "tough love" is a diversion from what the priority should be and a whole lot of shoulda, woulda, couldas don't help this baby in this
emergency situation. A doctor who works in an ER doesn't stand there and lecture a patient who is bleeding to death because he drove drunk. He deals with the acute injury and has that conversation once he saves his life! I'm sick over this situation and didn't sleep for worry over whether or not this baby is still suffering. I just want someone to get to her as soon as possible and save her life. If this post makes me an evil dog hater I don't know what language you speak because at the moment thid baby is all I can think about!
