How sad and purely horrible. I feel sick after seeing that poor baby, and will be praying for her recovery, and for the owner too. What a nightmare... it is unbelievable.

Oh my what a horrible thing to happen to your friends baby. I couldn't bring myself to enlarge the pic. I am sending prayers to your friend and her baby. You are truly a wonderful person to be helping your friend. She is lucky she has you. Please keep us updated on how this little baby is doing. I had never heard of cage dryers until now. I have been afraid of using even a hand held dryer on mine I just turn the heat up in the house and let them air dry.

I do hope that groomer gets rid of those dryers and doesnt back away from the big vet bills. From what you said it sounded like he was very upset which shows he is compassionate but he dropped the ball. Those heaters are a possible death trap and no groomer should ever leave a dog unattended or those dryers on high. I agree they should be taken off the market.

That is just sickening.. omg I hope she isn't in to much pain but that looks horribly painful to me! I sure hope she goes after the groomer for this. Those are not even supposed to get hot, only a very cool warm. There is just no excuse for that!! I would also turn in the groomer to the BBB and the attorney generals office, and whoever regulates grooming shops.

OMG, I am heartsick seeing that picture and can only imagine the heartache your friend is going through seeing her baby suffering from it. This little one and your friend are in my prayers for a full recovery from this horrific incident. I hope the groomer does right in paying any and all vet costs.
Kudos to you for being there for your friend and coming here to find some info and/or reassurance for her...........and some good ol' YT prayers. I've seen them work wonders! Please keep us posted on her progress.

if the groomer does back down get ready to go to small claims court as animals are considered property so you can take them to small claims court and all the judge has to see is one picture and case will be closed and i believe you can get up to 5,000 to cover vet bills. Check out small claims court and get prepared just in case as this is probably going to be an expensive road for your friend

i agree if this was me i would get a picture of the cage dryer and manufacturer and model number and would be calling them as well finding out what the heck happened there as this should not be able to happen there should be safety on these things.

I was also thinking last night that I'd like to know the manufacturer of this cage dryer. I'd like to write a letter and boycott their products until they stop making those things. I'd actually like to do that for all of those manufacturers of cage dryers that heat up, but I'd like to start with THIS company.

I know more groomers are getting away from the drying cages, they are horrible.

I can't get that picture out of my mind. I feel the same way as llcornell. Just absolutely devastating. That little angel---I can't even imagine her strengh and spirit fighting through this. I cry when I burn my hand on a pot etc. and can barely tolerate the pain. The pain Chloe must be going through....just unimaginable. I refuse to leave Chase at the groomer. I bring him and wait until he's finished. This makes me wonder about the high power dryer that they use on his body. They use a human hair dryer on his face but I have to think that the high power one that looks and sounds like a vacuum hose you would use in your car...it's very loud. Could this potentially hurt our babies too?? I could see the need in very large dogs with thick fur but I feel like it is just too strong for a little yorkie. I hope someone knows what the dryer that I'm trying to describe. Sweet Chloe--you are in our prayers.

dogs normal temp is higher than human it is 100.5-102.5 and human is 98.6 and reason why you have to be careful with human blow dryers so you need to keep on a cool setting or get a dog hair dryer as they are more quiet to not scare dog and also have a cooler setting - the dog already runs hotter so any added heat can not be good

This makes perfect sense to me which is why when we dry him at home we use the human dryer set to low. It takes a long time to get him completely dry but it is 100% worth it. My question is that the dryer that is high powered...the one the groomer uses on his body...it looks like a vacuum...VERY loud and sounds very powerful.....do you think that this can be harmful to my baby? We've been using the groomer for seven months and she has always done it this way but what do you think? I would be very willing to pay extra to have her completely dried with a human (low powered dryer).

I think that one is safe just very powerful to dry quickly it is when they just throw them in a cage with a cage dryer and not pay attention that the problem occurs but i still think those should be safe if they are going to manufacture them and sell to groomers it should never be able to get that darn hot. I have never heard of a dog dying from the hand dryers but i have heard of them dying from the cage ones and also have heard of them drowning from leaving them in water on a strap. I do not ever leave mine unattended i actually help my groomer groom them as i have a mobile come to home and i hold them while doing nails etc.
A lady on my yorkie group is a groomer and our previous groomer both have told me there is no training for grooming really and our one groomer was trained while in correctional facility. She was great but they train them for a trade and this is one of them while at the youth authorities. A few groomers told me alot of them are drug addicts, etc and come to work drunk or on drugs so the one on my yorkie group has to fire alot of them as not safe. One of my friends poodles died at groomer and i met the dog washer from that grooming shop and she told me he would abuse the dogs while grooming by hitting them if they did not stay still, etc and my friends dog died there

I know there are some wonderful ones as i have a great one and have had a few others but just like all professions there are some bad ones and our dogs cannot talk. Just be careful. I was pretty shocked

I looked into buying a local grooming shop that was up for sale and adding a boutique and selling food there and did a lot of research on it and decided against it as many told me there are alot of flakey groomers and since i did not want to groom I would be relying on these people for my business as i wanted to run the boutique. This is when i found out even more about things
