| ![]() Thanks again to everyone before I say goodnight. Was going to write a bit about the dryer (which I found out more about) and the groomer....who is back pedaling, but am too tired. Will post again tomorrow eve. This has emotionally zapped me and with working...and 3 BT's... I would be very surprised if vet does not do surgery Fri. I am thinking he is waiting to see what is healing on it's own...less he has to remove, less trauma for Chloe. The burned area is a large % of her little body. Also, I suggested on oprah.com that they do a show on this type of negligence and how prevalent it is, to educate the public and help put a stop to it. Oprah has done some wonderful things for pets. The site says they do not read all emails/suggestions, "I might have better luck winning lotto", but if others would send in a suggestion for a show on this problem, maybe they will take notice. | ![]() I just found this thread and OMGish! I made my dh come and look at that horrible picture. I just can't imagine what your friend went through. ![]() I was glad to hear Chloe is feeling better and the vet was pleased with what he was seeing. I will send prayers and warm thoughts for your friend and little Chloe's recovery. I had never heard of anything like this. I am going to share this with my groomer and question more about the equipment used. |

| ![]() When I saw the photo, I to was like OMG!!! Then I realized I actually said that out loud. I stopped by my groomer to get Joey's ears shaved and she had a poodle in the cage with the dryer going. I had never seen this before, well it started sparking and smoking, she was chating away, and I saw the sparks. I shouted get him out of there, the dryers on fire and you know what she was worried about, that -- dryer. I grabbed the cage door and got the dog out while she fiddled with the dryer. She told me to put him back in the cage, I was doing so and she turned the durn thing back on. I grabbed the cord and yanked it out of the plug in and told her she was stupid. She wasn't real happy with me, but Joey and I left and I sat in the car until the owner of the poodle pulled in. I told him what happened and that he should check the dog out very well. Guess what that was almost a year ago and a month or two back, I saw him taking his dog into the groomers!!!!!! I'm not sure which one is more stupid, the groomer or the owner. But wait, YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!! Needless to say I have a very chopped up yorkie because I will not leave Joey with a groomer unless I can remain with him, and I will not accept a glass barrier. I want to hear him if he barks or whines. The only groomer that works with me or that I trust has a very ill family member and hasn't been available for a couple of months, so we will wait. Did not know those things could do that much damage, I'm glad I never left Joey alone with her. I will keep chloe in prayer, God can touch and heal all living creatures. I am grateful your friend has you. I'm sure you have been a rock to her. Good luck and thanks for keeping the posting updated. Sharon, Joey, Cabella and the six puppies. |

| ![]() That poor little baby girl! Oh, my heart just breaks for her! This is an outrage!! Why the heck are these things still being used? Why is dog grooming not regulated??! I hate that dogs are seen as possessions and "things" and not family! This post makes me even MORE grateful for my wonderful groomer who does not cage at all, ever, not for anything. It's a giant puppy play date and when he's not playing with the dogs, he's sitting on her lap while she grooms (and for my skittish untrusting puppy mill rescue, that is a HUGE testament to her character and love for animals). I hope little Chloe continues to improve and does not need surgery. I can't even imagine how Chloe's skin momma feels, if it were Oliver I don't even know what I'd do. I'd likely end up in jail for throwing the groomers in a hot cage and burning them and see how they like it!

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | ![]() Hi Pat, oh that is wonderful news that the Vet put off doing surgery. Yorkie Talk Family prayers are mighty. I personally know the Silver Sulpha cream is marvelous stuff, and once it starts doing it's job it really continues to keep working, each day that passes with the use of it, one can see continued improvement. With that said, maybe the Vet won't need to do any surgery at all, praying that to be so. Pat, thank you for keeping us updated. I know how emotionally zapped you are feeling along with Chloe's Mom there, lets claim this time next week you will all see a tremendous healing for Chole's tummy. Continued prayers for Chloe, and her Mom. |

| ![]() I wanted to say that the reason I am HERE is that Pat emailed me as well and I did a Blog entry on Chloe's story. I am in the process of doing a series of articles on cage dryers and how they work, why they are OK sometimes, why they are dangerous and what to do about them. A dear frined of mine who writes for PetAge magazine is also covering this subject. If you are interested in the article at hand, you may read it at Grooming Smarter there is actually quite a bit on the blog itself that might interst some of you as I do a lot of yorkies and yorkie types in my salon and have detailed how to do grooming there as well. I am praying we can make a difference and that our articles no longer fall on deaf ears. We tried this a few years ago as well and the companies that make these dryers are so big we cannot win against them. BUT it can be done and now , with the internet as powerful as it is, we belive we can make a difference. Debi Hilley |

| ![]() Very glad to see the update and to hear she is improving I saw the photo when it was originally posted, and I have to say it is one of the more horrific things I've seen ![]() Also had no idea groomers had this type of drying method... Rem is dried with a low heat blow dryer that his groomer holds in her hand ...so it is very valuable information to have when doing due diligence on a potential groomer |

| ![]() First of all, thank you Debi (Particentral) for posting the link (above) to Chloe's Story. I was going ask everyone to read this wonderful information and comment to show their support for your, obviously, never tiring efforts and love for our pets. I have learned more about Yorkies in a few days than I think I know about Boston Terriers in years. With your help, this might be the "beginning of the end" of this negligence and abuse of our pets. Chloe update: Mom's visit to vet today to discuss surgery Fri. Apparently the vet has really taken Chloe's condition to heart and has researched the latest and greatest scientific papers and spoken to specialists. Chloe is continuing to heal...and his opinion today (altho he wants to see her again Fri), is she is generating new skin and tissue AND whether or not they do surgery at this time, she is going to be horribly scarred. If she continues recovery as she has done since Sat...he and Mom agreed, if scarring is the worst case scenario, everyone can live with that. Why traumatize her more right now, when she is just starting to perk up. He still wants to see her every 2 days. We are definitely not out of the woods, she is still on all antibiotics, pain meds, silva cream, etc - but they have to keep an eye on any possible infection. Again thank you so much for your Yorkie Prayers. I am going to see Chloe tomorrow and give her hugs from all of you. Sincerely Pat (mom to 3 BTs) and Chloe's Friend |

| ![]() I just spent 20 mins posting an update and thanking Debi (particentral)....and the post did not appear. Hopefully it will show up at some point. Not going to rewrite it all...will check back in the morning. Maybe because I posted a link? Here's a summary: Please see Chloe's Story posted above and written by Debi- there is wonderful information there AND Debi's love of our pets is very evident and she wants to make a difference - and we believe, with your help, we can. Chloe visited vet today and he is putting off surgery - after much research and talking to specialists, he does not want to further traumatize Chloe at this time. She will be forever scarred horribly, whether she has surgery or not....so he wants to check on her every 2 days to see her progress. She is perking up and even wanted to take a short walk today to pick up the mail...much progress because all she had done before is run out the front door and run back in and upstairs to hide in bedroom. She is still on all meds, antibiotics, pain meds, etc...she is not out of the woods by any means...still risk of infection and surgery. Keep those Yorkie Prayers coming. Sincerely Pat (mom to 3 BTs) and Chloe's Friend |
