| I just posted on your page and then came on here and found out your little Bijou is having surgery. I am soooo sorry. Pray that the leg will heal and that the bloody stools will stop and Bijou will be home with you in a very short time. ~Joanne~

| I just spoke with the emergency vet. Bijou did wonderfully over night, no diarrhea and urinating fine. They said she's a feisty one! I said thank god she is! I know I've got my work cut out for me keeping her calm in the crate this next month, but I'll have to put on my tough love hat and make sure she doesn't stand up on just the back legs. So smaller crate and no x-pen for now. Before I left her yesterday they let me have a few minutes cuddle time with her alone. I begged her to be strong for me and fight to live and she did!!! Now I'm gonna live up to my promise of giving her a wonderful life full of love. I'm leaving for the surgeon's in a little while. They didn't tell me when to come in so I'll call as soon as they open in a few minutes. I'm so thankful she's alive and doing well. I can't say thank you to you all enough for how grateful I am to you all for being there for me to vent to and be understood and for all the prayers! I'll try to post some photos later today as a token of my appreciation as I know how much we all love photos.

Maybe it was my perfume. The diarrhea has stopped and no more bloody stools (according to the e vets). My vet told me yesterday to do a bland diet too. I've already got the chicken out and defrosting. Thank you!!!

| Oh, thank you Gennie, for taking the time to update us. I've been thinking of you all night. I'm so happy to hear she is doing well. I look forward to your post that she is back home safe in your arms. And just a word of unasked for advice. Be sure to let your daughter help with Bijou's recovery. It will do wonders to rebuild her confidence and to show her that you still trust her. Even if it's something small to begin with, let her help, it will go miles to strengthening ya'll relationship.

| So glad your baby is doing better. We have 2 yorkies and 2 schnauzers, and when my oldest (toy schnauzer) was about 10wks old or so, the other one bounced her off the bed. I should have known not to have had her on the bed but I was sitting right there never expecting something like that to happen. She is tiny like the yorkies, so she had a bad break. The vet told me puppies heal alot faster than older dogs with less complications. She would run and play and hold her little cast out and just fly around the back yard. lol!!! She would hold it out to tee tee and when the cast was taken off, for a while she still held her little leg out. It was so funny. I'm sure that baby will be fine. I know how it is to worry about them. Mine go to the vet if they sneeze!!!! Will pray for that baby and she is going to do fine. I know your daughter feels terrible. I know I did. We just do things sometimes and don't think. Now I watch mine like a hawk. She will be real protective over that baby for now on, I bet. Bless her heart, she must feel so guilty and like I said we all do things we wish we could take back later. Give that baby a kiss from, Lexi, Kayla, Tina and Dudley. |

| Bijou looks 90% better than yesterday...well, so do I for that matter Her personality's back and she's thriving!!! She had tons of kisses for us when we picked her up. They said she ate like a little piggy this morning. So that's good news as well. There's no cast on her leg, as it's been plated/pinned and then there's the incision. I let my Garrett and Barley smell her through her crate door when we got home and she gave them kisses too. Then my daughter feed her a little cottage cheese and some water. Now she's resting comfortable in her crate in my bedroom (so I know there's nothing to excite her and have her standing). I agree that my daughter needs to be part of the healing process for her as well. She's puppy sitting tomorrow while I go back to work. I know she's learned what tough love means now and she won't give into Bijou's wants in order to keep her safe. She really is a great kid! She's making a welcome home cake for Bijou as I'm typing. Said she knows she can't eat it, but wants to have a celebration that she's home and getting better. I've got her chicken and rice cooking and will start her on that today as well. Thanks tons for the thoughts and prayers. I'll try to sneak a few photos when we get her up for medicines and the cold compresses. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

| I am praying for you and your baby, and especially for your daughter who I am sure is terribly distraught and feeling horribly guilty (without any added pressure from you). I used to be a Vet. Tech and delt often with surgery. There is absolutely no cause what-so-ever for anyone in the Vet's office to be anything but kind and consoling to you and I would report anyone to the Senior Vet within that office. Anyone who has a pet, I dont care if it is a worm, for a pet, deserves kindness, sympathy and the understand (in a warm manner) of what is going to be done to your pet, and why. That your pet will be isolated after surgery and the care it will be given. I hope all turns out perfectuly for you. These little guys are really tough for their size and have a lot of will and need to please you. I am sure he will be fine in time. Bless you and I wish you and your daughter the very best, and you tell that little baby "to go for it!" Pipp

I really think she would too. But I knew I needed her for Bijou's sake so went along with her rudeness. I did think about reporting her and one of the male clerks (who totally ignored me when I walked up to his desk to text on his cell phone...very professional, huh?), but I don't know who I'd report them to, as I think she and the other doctors own the facility. It's Bay Area Veterinary Surgery. Maybe the better business bureau can help me on that one. However, I have a recheck with them in 4 weeks (going to my own vet to have the stitches taken out, as I want to see that lady as little as possible). You know she didn't ever come out and see me when I went to get Bijou, and I seen her in the parking lot at her car so she wasn't busy. She spoke with me on the phone this morning on after care, but that was it. I really appreciate your kind words and wish that you was the one taking care of my baby.

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Glad to hear Bijou is home and doing well. You have a tough few weeks ahead of you with lots of cage rest and TLC. I'm sorry the vet and other guy were rude to you. I was gonna say that maybe yesterday she was rude because she had a very busy day ahead of her and she was anxious. Seeing that Bijou's surgery wasn't until 5pm the vet probably did at least 4-5 other surgeries before her. who knows. but with the rudeness today i have no excuses for you. it is typical that the vet doesn't see you upon pick up. Did a tech talk to you about recovery tho? That's what i used to do. The surgeons were in surgery so when people came to pick up their pets the surgery techs would go down and speak with the owners first and go over all the aftercare instructions again (the vet goes over them on the phone before hand) becuase its a lot of take in. Then the tech brings you your pet. That kind of hospital is tough to work in...after 2 1/2 years i had to quit. i couldn't take the stress anymore. I'm not defending the hospital personnel tho. whatever stress you have, rudeness should never be directed toward a client or pet. hopefully the vet will be nicer to you at your recheck appt. i'm surprised the surgeon is letting you go back to your regular vet for suture removal because the surgeon should look at the leg 2 weeks post op to make sure everything is healing the way it should. Regular vets are great and all but the surgeon knows her stuff. where i worked this would never be allowed.
