| So happy to hear all is well...a long time ago we dwelt with parvo and it was horrible. But good job keeping them medicated and hydrated. I know how hard you worked. Good job...I will keep praying...

| Urgent Message About Deadly Parvo Strain Canine parvovirus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Nobivac*DHPPi im so glad they are better above is some info on parvo. ive been looking in to vaccinations for over a year now as i wasnt sure if i should have two of my dogs done or not as theres been a lot of talk about vaccines causing health problems in dogs but also that the live vaccines may infect the dog with the illnesses that its ment to prevent. i wouldnt thing your pups would of got parvo from the vets the day before as it takes 5 to 10 days after infection to show signs of parvo, as its something that can be bought in to the home on feet it could of come from anywhere. most vaccines shouldnt be given untill the pup is at least 10 weeks old as the vaccine prob wont work as the pups have immunity from the mum in most cases. the live vaccines shed in the poo of vaccined dogs for up to 8 days after vaccination but as they are modified they shouldnt cause illness in unvaccinated dogs but some info does suggest that it can infect an unvaccinated dog and cause a low positive on the elisa scale (parvo test) but this shouldnt cause illness. there is a new strain of parvo in the usa, (its not in uk yet) that is very strong and if you read the info above it shows which vaccines work and which dont. vaccines should also be Stored between +2°C and +8°C. Do not freeze. Protect from light. Care should be taken to avoid prolonged or repetitive exposure to high ambient temperatures following withdrawal from the refrigerator prior to use – in hot summer conditions vaccine potency can be severely reduced within a few hours. in the uk we never vaccinate are own dogs the vets always do this but i understand in the usa a lot do it there self. parvo is also shed in the poo of dogs that have had parvo for maybe up to 9 months after infection. after reading all the info on vaccines over the last year i have just had 2 of my dogs done but not my other 2 as they are nearly 16 and have some health problems so to be on the safe side im picking up the vaccinated dogs poo as soon as its done. if your going to rehome the pups then maybe you should make sure the new owners know that the pups will shed the parvo for up to 9 months or maybe even longer so that they can make sure that any other dogs they have are up to date on vaccines. sooooo glad your little ones are on the mend

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I just saw this thread for the first time and after seeing the pictures of Cosmo and Pete then hearing they passed I cried. You are much stronger than I am as I just would fall apart. To get to the end and hear Yoda and the 2nd litter are doing well. I'm so sorry for your loss and heart ache. I pray this is the worst thing you ever have to go through in life and I hope it is now over.... RIP to the little ones that didn't make it.....

| little background about me..I'm a retired paramedic, seen it done it all until..... A while back I went to a shelter to adopt a puppy as i didn't have a dog after my precious Booboo had died she was a pekapoo and i'd had her for 14 years and loved her like a baby. I found a cute little furball and adopted him, mentioned he looked lethargic, they swore probably cause he'd been handled alot that day..i bought that story cause he was just such a cutie. took him home and after like two days all of a sudden it was like something i'd never seen before! and don't want to see again! I won't even describe it because it brings so much pain in the meory of it, he died right before my eyes with me on my cell phone crying and screaming to my hubby to get home as i did CPR on my baby. I called the animal shelter and told them they had parvo they acted uninterested and all i got as a response was ok. A few months passed, i did clean my whole house with bleach after that..and a neighbor had pekinesse puppies and offered me one, Junior was so cute i couldn't resist, but then he started acting lethargic all of a sudden after he'd played in the backyard one day..i of coursed paniced rushed him to vet, yup he had parvo! cost me 500$ but he was saved! here in Georgia the winters don't get cold enough to kill parvo and the vet said that it can live up to two years in the soil and thats where Junior caught it from, my own back yard! I'm so sorry your having to go through this, it is like living a nightmare i know and will keep you and your babies in my prayers . |
