| Awesome!! I'm so glad Dante is home and doing better. I am also glad your neighbor has paid his medical bills. Given what has happened to your poor Dante, I can see why you are scared to leave any of your babies outside alone. I would feel the same way if I was in your position. Hope he can get the shunt out in the morning!

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I hope your neighbor plans to help with that bill. I can't imagine how you must feel, my heart goes out to you. I had to take my baby to the vet today too, but I didn't get any real answer to what's up with her. I'll keep your little one in my prayers with my little one.

| Off leash dogs Once I was walking my yorkies(one is now deceased) when an off leash dog charged me and just about had his mouth on my 4 pound yorkie Toby. It was all I could do to snatch up the two of them. The owner called out to his dog and came running and fortunately his dog listened, and didn't cause any harm. I was a wreck and cried all the way home. |

| I'm glad I found this thread after the happy ending. Your poor little baby and poor you! What a horrible experience. I'm so happy Dante is doing well and is home with you.

| I am so glad Dante is doing a little better. I am also glad this woman is paying the bills upfront so you don't have to worry about money, just Dante. I don't blame you for being paranoid. I have heard too many stories of these little ones being attacked by large dogs that did not have happy endings. I always carry Muzzle (doggie mace) with me when I walk Lady. I will shoot first and ask questions later if a loose dog approaches us. I had a cat killed by a neighbor's dog in my own backyard years ago. I was on the patio and saw the whole thing. The dog came through the woods in the back and grabbed him, shook him, and that was it. He wasn't even that far away and I ran towards the dog screaming, but it only took a minute for the dog to kill him. |

| I am glad your little Dante is home with you. Your neighbor is doing all the right things and is taking full responsibility for her dog's actions. She ought to feel bad. And lucky that her dog did not kill your baby. I hope and pray Dante will continue to make a full recovery.

| I'm so glad Dante is doing better! and hope and pray for a quick recovery! That must be so scary for all of you and I totally understand how you must be feeling! Can I ask, what kind of dog was it? Has he ever displayed an aggressive behavior and is there anything that triggered it? I always worry that Zoe being so small will trigger a prey instinct in dogs making her more of a target. I honestly worry about it all the time after hearing about stories like this! |

Tell me...do you have a leash law where you live? It wouldn't be a bad idea to check with town government and see what the law is on dogs running loose. If there's a law against it...what are the penalties for violation? What is your legal recourse if you see a dog running...and what will the authorities do if you report it? We have a leash law in my town, but every town has different policies around here. Maybe, with some diligence on your part, you can prevent this problem from ever happening again. People purely HATE paying fines and having to bail out their dogs. In some towns around here, the fines escalate and it can get very costly for violators. Unfortunately, my particular town is very lax in that regard.

| How awful and scary it must have been for you all. Hope she is better. I am glad the woman paid the vet bill immediately and she didn't give excuses for her dog. And that she came to check on the little one. A lot of people are not as nice or willing to correct their own fault. Carol and Jemma Last edited by Jemma; 05-22-2009 at 06:33 AM. |

I was told by her owner that the dog is a mixed breed. She's about 60 pounds and very playful (usually). The owner said that she thinks that her dog just thought it was a toy or a squirrel, cause she had never acted with aggression before. But that does not excuse the fact that she can break the city rules by not keeping her dog on a leash at all times. Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. Gotta give her credit for taken responsibilityand paying the $1300.00 vet bill the next day. She was also very remorseful. I just pray that something like this ever happens again.
