I'm so petrified now, I won't leave my other dogs outside on a leash for more than a second. My husband thinks I'm crazy that I can't leave them for a second, but I just can't risk something happening again to any of my pets.
Thanks again to eveyone and I'll keep you all infomed on his progress. Hopfully in the morning he will be alittle more like himself ??

This is wonderful news! The vet must be very optimistic, since he let you take Dante home.
Tell me...do you have a leash law where you live? It wouldn't be a bad idea to check with town government and see what the law is on dogs running loose. If there's a law against it...what are the penalties for violation? What is your legal recourse if you see a dog running...and what will the authorities do if you report it?
We have a leash law in my town, but every town has different policies around here. Maybe, with some diligence on your part, you can prevent this problem from ever happening again. People purely HATE paying fines and having to bail out their dogs. In some towns around here, the fines escalate and it can get very costly for violators. Unfortunately, my particular town is very lax in that regard.
