| I'll be leaving for class in an hour and I just remembered what I was going to mention to you awhile back. You may want to also check out Quinoa (keen-wah) to add a bit to her fish and is an excellent alternative to rice since it's higher in protien. I've been giving the girls this. I made and froze up veggie broth to cook it in.

![]() I wonder if you could find a local hunting group-maybe check at your sporting good stores and see if they have groups or people who will hunt deer, rabbit, or whatever other game you're looking to buy? It might be a place to start at least! Also I agree with Donna on the quinoa-I have always wondered about feeding it, but never have gotten around to trying it. I can get it in the bulk food area of my grocery store, and at any health food store. I don't know much about the Honest Kitchen-but I have talked to Jodie a bit about it and have thought about using it for my girls too. Both are great ideas and things to explore! Maybe have questions about them ready for the nutritionist so that you can ask specifically about certain ingredients/ratios, as well as what foods to feed together-I know that some foods counteract fats, while others work together to help absorb certain nutrients.

| How is Layla doing today? No symptoms still? I was reading something online about chronic and mild pancreatitis in adult dogs being asymptomatic sometimes, so I guess it can happen. It is is good that you do blood work on her to catch things before they become a big problem.

| Marci, I know that you will find the right way to get Layla on track. Prayers for you both. This is exactly what it's like to have kids, you never stop working to do what's best for them. Hugs

| I know you all will reading to follow up on Layla and hope she is well on her way to recovery......I hope someone out there can help me. I TOO AM AND HAVE BEEN FOR OVER A MONTH trying to mend my Julz form this along with her other medical conditions. She has now decided that she doesn't want to eat, nor show an interest. I have tried all kinds of food combinations she will not eat the same thing back to back. I have to watch fat/protein/phrophus intake since she has kidney failure. In fact we go on Sat to learn to to do SQ at home. She now weighs 5.2 down from 9lb in Feb she is 14.5 yr. I'm really afraid the end is near and have been so sick with all of this since Sept. Are any of you familiar with this combo of conditions and know of anyone with luck getting their furkid to eat. She cannot afford to loose any more. This afternoon she has vomit up her chik/rice from this morning, not sure if that is what caused it or the pepcid i was instructed to giver her last night, but wouldn't that have already come up???? I NEED HELP!!! Sorry so long i do not know how to post a new thread or i would have

When there are so many medical problems involved and you want to homecook, there is no way around talking to a nutritionist. It is doing but then will she even eat it? Are you opposed to prescription diets? If she has been refusing to eat for more than a couple days, since she is so skinny, has your vet thought about putting her on an IV?

| Marci the only thing I was able to learn last evening was this: First off sweetpotatoes are difficult to digest because of the high fiber, (but my girls eat it and so far no problems, but they only get it a couple times a month) not to feed high glycemic foods such as white breads, cheerios, (among 24 other cereals, but this one seems to be a favorite snack), Instant rice, jasmine rice, tapioca, watermelon, carrots instant potatoes, red skinned potato, russet potato, parsnips, pumpkin, white potatoes, corn pasta, rice pasta, and a few more but not what we feed our pets. The good foods would be: coarse barley kernel, pumpernickel, whole grain, cereals; barley, buckwheat, bulgur, kellogg's All-Bran, Kellogg's Special K, muesli, non-toasted, old fashioned & oatmeal. Grains & Rice; barley buckwheat bulgur, long grain rice,& rye whole kernels. Fruits; apple, applesauce (no sugar) dried apricots, blackberries blueberries, peaches, pears, plums, prunes, pitted, raspberries, & strawberries. Vegetables; alfalfa, broccoli, celery, peas, green, snow peas, sugar snap peas & zucchini. There are lots more but too many to mention all at once. I think with the white fish, veggies & exercise, she will do beautifully!
