| ![]() My 6 month old Suzi chewed up a styrophone cup last night. It was in little tiny pieces the next morning. I though she was fine, however, i gave her a favorite treat that she loves and eats no problem. SHe took the treat ran and hid. Then I heard her crying. She has never done that. Suzi then took off again and I followed her to my room. She had not touched the treat. I broke it up in a little piece and she ate it. then i did it again, no problems. I gave the rest to her, and , again she ran and hid . I decided to watch her, and again she cried with her treat in her mouth, not eating it. She got up and moved one more time, and then ate it. I am wondering if she is having a hard time eating? and some of the chewed up styrophone is in her stomach ? will; she be able to pooped it out? She is acting ok, other wise.

| ![]() I'm sorry your baby seems to be in some sort of pain ... Oscar has given me a few scares with some of the things he's chewed up ... I swear he has a death wish. Is she still eating her regular food and drinking water? Pooping and peeing normally? I would watch her carefully and if any of those things change, get her to the vet. It almost sounds like something in her mouth is hurting her ... have you looked at her teeth carefully to make sure she doesn't have anything impacted in her gums? I hope everything is alright ... keep us updated. |

| ![]() Sorry to hear, I hope Suzi is feeling better. I don't have any expert advice to offer you since I just had my furbaby for a few months. I would however...definitely monitor her eating and drinking. Also, if she hasn't pooped yet for the whole day, I would take her to the vet as soon as possible. |

| ![]() I thought she was ok... However, Suzi vomited a large amount of food later tonight. She was resting, then all of a sudden started hacking, then it happened. ![]() My gosh, now i am unsure. But, then after 15 min, she went and got a drink of water, and ate a little bit. I do think it was the styrophone cup she chewed up. Poor baby. I hope she will be ok tommorrow. After she eliminates. Suzi is acting normal, had a few odd behaviors today. It is enough to make me worry. ![]()

| ![]() Darn it - the vomiting is something to pay attention to, although the eating and drinking are good signs. I would probably go ahead and have her seen by the vet unless everything is completely normal tomorrow. I'm anxious to see what kind of bowel movement she has. I'm sure she is going to be ok, but in the event there were some kind of obstruction, you'd want to catch it sooner than later. Keeping my fingers crossed! |

| ![]() ok thank you. I am leatning that it is hard to tell with her. The signs are subtle. She loves to eat her food though, and treats. That is how I picked up on something was wrong. This morning, I gave her the same treat, she took it and did not cry or hide. She wants to play, and be with us too. I am hoping it is over. Since she did not eat well yesterday, she has not pooped a good one yet. I am waiting for her to do that too. I do believe she got into something in the house. I do not let her outside without me. Lately she has been indoors. ![]()

| ![]() Keep watching her bm's. Ginger ate styrofoam once. I didn't know she'd eaten it until she pooped some scary looking white beady foamy poo...ran straight to the vets. Anyway, it passed and she was fine. With Ginger the little vacuum cleaner in my house, I've had more scares than I can count. Vet always tells me the same thing...if she's eating/drinking/eliminating, don't panic. I do occasionally give her olive oil to help things slide through. The vomiting is worrisome, but if she's still drinking/eating and has eliminated at all, I'd just keep a close eye on things. (of course, a trip to the vets never hurts) Good luck.

| ![]() Styrofoam doesn't digest or break down once swallowed. It takes hundreds of years to break down in a landfill. It can collect in a dog's intestine and cause a blockage. Has she pooped since she ate it? If not, she may be blocked. That is an emergency and you need to get her to your vet asap. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I'm concerned about blockage too; the vomiting is a bad sign, if she hasn't had a bowel movement. I would take her to the vet as soon a possible. Best of luck.

| ![]() Sorry to read about the styrofoam, sometimes they chew it up but do not swallow it, could that be the case here? If she did chew some of the cup and swallow it, perhaps it came up when she vomited? I sure hope so. Let us know.

| ![]() I would continue to keep a good eye on her. If she vomits again I would bring her in to be checked in case she has some of the styrofoam caught inher intestine. I'm not a vet but I remember reading some stories about dogs that ate things and how it caused blockages. I'm sure she'll be fine and I dont' mean to worry you. Just keep an eye on her. Tia sometimes hacks. I noticed the Bully Sticks seem to bother her lately. Elaine |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Is she having bowel movements? That's the important question, if there is no bowel movement for a day or so, and than vomiting occurs, this can be a sign of blockage. The vomiting occurred almost 24 hours after the incident, and this also suggest blockage. I don't want to alarm you either, but I've very concerned.

| ![]() Thank you for all of your responses . Suzi has had Bowel movements today. She only vomited a large amount once, late last night. She has been acting normal all day today without any vomiting or odd behaviors. I am going to definately keep watching for any more signs off illness or discomfort. She is only 6 months old, and loves to grab anything that fits in her mouth . I am at home all day long with her and she is never far away from me. ![]()
