The older I get the more I hate spinach. Isn't that strange? I'm noticing that weird coating it leaves on my teeth more and more and I can't get past it.

I love the spinach Korean 'ban chan' loll no weird coating feeling, maybe bc it's slightly boiled & seasoned, yum.

I was scared of shrimp...maybe the texture, all rubbery. My brother told me to try it, that I'll like it, but didn't try it for the longest time. One day we were @ a Korean/Chinese restaurant & my bro always orders the sweet & sour shrimp...I guess I was feeling adventurous that day. I tried a tiny bite, ready to spit it out on my napkin & wow love it, wished I tried it b4! Now I can't get enough of it.

You know what? You're right about the Korean spinach. It doesn't leave that feeling on your teeth. I wonder if it's a different kind? It's usually the cooked spinach that I have a problem with.

And I can't imagine not having shrimp, I love it! Once I cooked dinner for my bff, her mom, and her little cousin. Bff and cousin never had shrimp before. Bff was/is vegetarian, so she wasn't having any, but cousin tried one, and she's like, omg this is good! She was about 12 or so and never had shrimp. When it's cooked properly it's not rubbery at all!

I would have to say avocado and hummus. I love spinach - preferably fresh over cooked though I just read somewhere that spinach is one of those foods that is actually healthier if cooked - the heat releases something or other and your body absorbs it better. Though after reading the posts about the film left on the teeth, I think I will stick with cooked spinach in spinach dip.

Never was a big seafood eater because my mom didn't like it so she never cooked it. I have tried and love crab legs, lobster tail and shrimp. I don't like calamari (octopus for those who don't know) and don't think I could eat sushi or caviar yuckies.

I have heard that kale chips are the bomb though! So will have to try them.

Oh and one last thing, I have heard that our taste buds change every 7 years or so... so if you tried something when you were younger and didn't like it, you might love it now.

Calamari is actually squid.

I grew up in New England, if you don't eat seafood you are not from here! HAHA

There are many things I have tried that I know I would not have when I was younger. My main one is yogurt... I hated it as a kid, now I LOVE it! I can eat it every single day!

Thats cool about the taste buds changing every 7 years!

Oh a last note, I HATE kale. I made those 'chips' one time. I made them for hubby, me & 2 step sons. We all hated them so much I brought them to my SIL who liked them. I did not coat them in olive oil though. I found the kale to be oily on it's own, so I just washed them and laid them on a cookie sheet and sprinkled them with sea salt and baked them that way. YUCK! LOL I finally found a vegetable that I didn't like ...amazing! LOL

Guacamole ...I couldn't stand it and would always have it omitted if I ordered something at a restaurant and it had it on it...but now that I live in CO, I tried it again, and love it.

Hate brussel sprouts, I always give them a try when offered...but they just don't do it for me...yuck.

I saw the calamari/octopus comment but forgot to post what you did. I do find often times at restaurants that they DO serve baby octopus and call it calamari. Calamari/squid don't have suction cups on their tentacles, and are white. Octopus DO have tentacles and are reddish and white on the underside when cooked. I don't care either way though, I love them both. It's just something that bugs me. Maybe it's only something they do in CA?

I actually love the nutty taste of brussel sprouts. I had them for the first time at a buffet in vegas. Loved them. After that I would try them everywhere, and you know what, most places did not cook them well. Overcooked and mushy. They should be al dente, soft on the outer layers and a nice texture in the center, not quite crunch, but like when you eat the stem of broccoli that's properly cooked. I also had it where they seasonings were sweet and/or citrus, yuck! I like mine simple, I broil them in the oven. Remove outer leaves, halve them, drizzle in olive oil with salt/pepper, and garlic. That's it! Sometimes I put cumin too.

Asparagus! Growing up, we had to eat canned asparagus! I would gag because it was just mush. I now love it as long as it is FRESH and grilled! Just thinking of it growing up, just gives me the "willies"!!!!

some mentioned not liking Brussel sprouts that is a food that seems to be all the rage now. I Love it, toss it in olive oil add some garlic salt and just roast at about 375F keep turning so they don't burn, but crispy is good. Most people that swear they hate brussle sprouts wind up loving them that way
