The trick is to get the rice paper wrapper just right. You have to soak them in warm water. I've never done it. Just watched MIL do it.

I always use the mushroom soy sauce...the stuff is amazing! It really adds a nice flavor...I haven't tried any of the others though...will have to look for these.

I buy spring roll shells? But I deep fry them just like egg rolls. I don't really have a recipe lol. I use cabbage, carrots, lemon pepper, chicken, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and anything else I decide to throw in. . Wrap them then deep fry. The spring roll shells are not as thick as the egg roll wrappers like Walmart has. Does that make any sense?

Same way I make them, except i use shrimp sometimes as well, and maybe some ground pork, try some club house 'spicy pepper medley' as well.

Where do you get spicy pepper medley? I too have used other meats. I have even used ground beef. But we are big chicken fans. Lol.

Its made by 'Club House' the La Grille line.
I got mine at Costco, you should be able to get it at your regular grocery store, since it is club house.

As far as I know, the spring roll wrappers don't come ready to use, you have to soak them. They are made from rice and are white. Egg roll wrappers come ready to use and are made from egg, that is why they are called egg rolls, even though there isn't actual egg in it, and those are yellow.

Sometimes they call spring rolls summer rolls also. They aren't supposed to be deep fried. I doubt the rice paper would hold up. Only the egg wrappers should be fried.

Oh duh, what goes inside. rice noodles or bean thread noodles, lettuce, pork sausage or shrimp (usually halve the shrimp lengthwise, not being cheap, it's just too bulky with a whole shrimp), pickled daikon and carrot mix, mint, basil, some times a rolled up piece of egg roll wrapper inside for more crunch. the dip is a fish sauce based dip, with garlic, chili, soy sauce, sugar, water, lime juice. I usually wrap it in more lettuce and daikon/carrot mix and mint.

I'm not sure what this is that I get. They are frozen and say spring roll shells on the package? Lol I have no clue. Haha. I just know they taste really good. .

I found out about Tamari when cooking for a friend who was very gluten intolerant..she has celiac disease..

anyway tamari is the old way of brewing soy sauce, wheat is not added to speed the fermentation so the flavor is truer and there isn't any gluten.
Just in case you wanted to know

Msyorkietown.. do you have an "island" background? A lot of your "cooking" sounds very much like some of my Jamacian friends. It is interesting the blend of cultures in "Island" food.. so yummy

She is Jamaican. I am very excited to try the jerk seasoning!!

Tamari is much more pure than soy sauce, yet costs about the same. My SIL has Celiac's disease. It's amazing how many things contain glueten.

I'm going to look for the mushroom soy ASAP

I better buy a second refridgerator and a bigger wardrobe at this rate
