| i think it's funny that she doesn't like chipotle. i've been to southern new mexico and eaten traditional mexian/indian combo foods. very different than chipotle's tex mex which is better than taco bell but still not the same as real authentic mex. everything around here even places that claim authentic aren't quite the same as south new mexico foods. |

| Haha. I laugh at my mexican friends who eat at Taco Bell. I don't eat at Panda Express or Pick up Stix. I am lucky I live/work near Placentia and there are SO many authentic mexican places around here. You know it authentic when the menu is in spanish with tiny writing in english under it, and they have lengua, buche, cabeza, huitlacoche, etc. I still have to try the buche. However, I do eat Chipotle from time to time. I eat their chicken salad with a lot of salsas and no dressing--split into two meals. That's my diet meal LOL!

| i miss authentic mexican food. but what i got though far from tex mex was mixed with so much native american that it changed a little from pure mexican. it's good though. i love real sopapillas which no one in the midwest understands IS NOT a tortilla fried with cinnamon on it. it's actually it's own fry bread thank you very much and it's best with honey on it ![]() i would kill for an authentic one. i'd also kill for a stone oven baked pie or cookie or bread from Taos Pueblo from the indian ladies. |

| I hate when MIL over cooks noodles! All the time! Ugh! I had some noodles perfectly al dente and in a serving just for her, and she puts it back in the soup and continues to boil it and gives it back to us.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Out of curiosity, what items on your list have you actually tried? I don't think it's fair to say you hate something if you've never tried it. Plenty of stuff looks gross, but to eat it it's delicious. Like my dad says, whoever was the first guy to eat lobster or crab was a brave man, bc those things are UGLY! And lobster tastes wonderful!

I will admit that I am fairly narrow-minded about food, call me a food snob, or very food prejudiced. I was raised in the south where we had a lot of good fresh food, but it was basically "plain" without a lot of seasonings and nothing tremendously exciting. When I got married and I started cooking for hubby I tried to branch out with my cooking, but he, too, grew up on good, plain food and didn't like very much experimentation. However, when the kids came along, I made it a point to encourage them to at least try new foods. I succeeded with the kids, my oldest son is a wonderful cook, he loves sushi and of course uses the palate clearing sauces. He even went so far as to try horse when he was in Germany on a cultural exchange trip. Said it was very good :-(. I love reading your food posts - you wouldn't believe how many yucks and smiles you generate for me. | |

| Some things you only eat after having way too much to drink. Then when you sober up and remember it's like OH MY, I ate that????? My list includes escargo and rattlesnake (it really does taste like chicken) |

| haha, glad to hear your stories as well. I have yet to try rattlesnake, there is a sausage shop in downtown LA that has all kinds. I love unagi, so I assume I would love a land eel as well. I don't think frog tastes like chicken. No, wait, it does, just the rubberiest chicken you've ever had. In fact chicken has such a neutral taste that anything could be made to taste like chicken or vice versa. Now if people were to say "it tastes like lamb"... lol Now lobsters I can ease on by that they are cute, but crabs? Have you not seen the movie Predator? that's what a crab looks like, and even Arnold S said "you are one ugly mother______"
