We've just had pizza.... with spicy ground beef, jalapeno peppers and fried onion topping - oh, and a soft egg on top for dipping the crust in, of course.... x

Oh, Sally, you guys and your soft egg on pizza!!! This American is so confused! Is it just one egg right fried put right in the center and then do you puncture the yellow and let it run around on the top or how and what happens once the egg gets on top? We don't have that over here and I want to see how it all works so I can try it on a little pizza to see if I like it.

Well, when we've prepared our pizza ready to put in the oven, I crack an egg on the top, just as it is...then put it in the oven at about 190 degrees for about 14 minutes....et voila!!! All of it is cooked and ready for you to pull off the crust and dip into the geggy yolk....so scrummy, I could eat another one right now!!! x

Coal slaw, pickled asparagus, vegi cracker, comby jack, salami, rolo with raspberry, black olive and a salt and vinegar chip...gitta taste test the snacks!

So at 14 minutes cooking, the egg yolk is still soft? I would have thought it would be hard as a rock. But it is soft & you dip pizza pieces in egg yolk, right? And it is good?

It is in MY oven, but obviously they all vary so much - it's trial and error

Of course the other way is the one you suggested, just fry an egg and put it on top afterwards. Thing is I ADORE eggs, especially with geggy yolks, and yes....it is VERY scrummy!!! x

It sounds that an odd combination of tastes but I will try most anything culinary at least once. I have got to get brave enough to try this as it sounds like it is very, very good to you & I hate to miss out on something wonderful if it is out there just waiting for me. It seems, though, as if the bland egg would rather blunt some of the Italian spicey sauciness from the flavors of the pizza. No? Do you cover the egg with spices or just leave it virginal atop the pie, if I'm not getting too personal?
