Glad to hear it. Coincidentally, these instructions are also perfect for poaching eggs. Bring a large, deep, pot of water to boil with salt and vinegar. Crack the eggs and drop them in. Use a slotted spoon for extraction. Just be careful of the foam, use your slotted spoon to skim. | |

| There is a cool little app for iPhone, called The Perfect Egg Timer: The perfect Egg timer iPhone application - AppStoreHQ So you put the raw egg next to the phone to "measure" the size of the egg, put in your altitude, put in if it was in the fridge or room temperature, then put in how "runny" you want your egg. (See the screenshot in the link above). The app tells you exactly how long you should boil your egg to get what you want. It pretty much works perfectly. |

| boil in water with salt in it for several minutes and then when you are about to crack them just take them and roll them into your palm cracking the shell and it will all come off on bigger chunks. run cold water over them while rolling and cracking them. it's okay if they come off with a membrane sticking to them and the yolks should always be solid never oozy! good luck EGG STORY: Once I was boiling eggs when I just got married and moved into my own home. I forgot all about the eggs on the stove (prob. on YT) and went back to an empty pail with eggs but no water. So stupid me i just go ahead and get ready to readd the water to them. As soon as the water touched the eggs POOF!!! they busted all over my face and the kitchen clear up to the ceiling and all over the curtains and window. it was horrible!! SO PAY ATTENTION TO UR EGGS k? |

| @ Wylies Mom: You said you put the eggs into boiling water...and they didn't immediately break? I always thought you had to put them into cold water and let them come up in temperature with the water to prevent breaking. Were the eggs straight from the 'frig into boiling water? Do let me know please. All the egg talk...got home too late (work/son's basketball practice/life) to make a real dinner. I boiled eggs and made an egg salad sandwich!! Son gagged at that thought (he's 14 naturally) so he ate cereal... Hey some nights are just like that!

| Wow, different methods! When I had Lady Gouldian Finches and few canaries, I always fed them eggshells and hard boiled eggs (mashed, of course!) in the morning. I never had to add the salt or vinegar in the water. I put the eggs in the saucepan with cool water and let it rise the temperature to full boiling. It takes about 13 minutes from the start to end. The eggshells always came off perfectly. Set time, let's say you want to start with 10 minutes, if it fails, increase to 11 minutes, if it fails, then 12 minutes... so on until you get the perfect hard boiled eggs.

| We know that eggshells contain calcium and it helps birds during the molting but honestly, I did not think about dogs or cats. That's pretty neat.

. Also the freshest eggs, esp around Easter time when a lot of ppl buy eggs, the shells are not gonna come off easily no matter what. Anyway, AB says take the eggs out of the fridge, and add cold water over it. Put pot on high and once it reaches a rolling boil, turn off and leave covered for at least 15 mins. Then drain water and let cool. I've always had good results with this method unless they are with super fresh eggs from the farm.and now I want to eat some eggs. and I love runny yolks.
