| I use one before, when I just came to USA, I don't remember the name is been so long. I just didn't feel hungry at all. I do believe in eating most of the time right, I said most of the time, because I do like my junk food ones in a while, and I also have a sweet tooth lol, also exercise or keeping active, everything in moderation

| Well I was a diet pill "junky" for many years. I was born overweight and stayed that way. I was your typical "fat kid" in school as was all 5 of my sisters and 2 of my 3 brothers, have an obese mom, and so on... When I graduated high school I weighed 180 pounds at 5 feet tall. Had 4 kids, ballooned to 250 pounds 2 years ago. None of the pills worked. I dieted and exercised 6 days a week taking in 1100 calories a day under Dr. supervision and a nutritionist. I never cheated once!! and lost 12 pounds in 6 months!! Talk about depressing.. ![]() In Feb. 2009 I had a gastric bypass and even after that and not cheating and going to the gym (just got back 20 mins ago) I am down to 180!! But have stayed there for 5 months now. So some think that the surgery is a "quick fix" and cheating and to them I say then do not have it. I know I have regained some of my life back but am not happy with the 180. So, I do not believe in the pills as you just gain it back. Lifestyle change, exercise, and nutrition counseling. If all else fails lap band or surgery if you are in the obese range.

| Everytime I see one of these *new* weight loos products they all say the same thing in the fine print.... " Guaranteed weight loss!!..... Just take this product ( pill, drink, supplement, colonic, suppository, etc.etc) everyday and the weight will just fall off while you sleep!!!" and then there in the micro print is..."Follow a sensible low calorie meal plan and get 45 minutes of exercise daily.".....

I have to disagree with you on your last couple of statements. Not only can you gain it back after stopping the pills - you can gain it back after the surgery, too. Lifestyle changes (food & exercise) goes without saying in any of these situations - but as you know - it's only a piece of the puzzle. ![]() Now where are the other pieces??? lol!

![]() My friend's dad did the lap band and it's been very successful for him. I think if one is at the point where surgery is being considered, I would personally look into that first. It doesn't have to be permanent. I would be so devastated to do gastric bypass and then the weight not come off.

| DO NOT try Zenical! When first diagnosed with insulin resistance, I beg doctor to help me get those five kg off so I could continue work. Don't get wrong, it works, but I had serious case of anaphalaxis!

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I had lapband surgery and I am very glad I did! Although, I have only lost 50 lbs and have another 60 to go, I KNOW for a fact that I would have kept gaining weight. I knew that I was getting older and the heart disease and diabetes in my family was staring me in the face. Weightloss surgery is no walk in the park. It is still VERY HARD to lose weight. (if you do it the right way) It is only a tool I have lost my weight over an 18 month period. Others that had the surgery the same time as me have lost their band because they threw up everyday and their band erroided into their stomach, so they had to have it removed. Others have gained back some of their weight. Weight loss surgery is only a tool to help you. So anyone that thinks its easy is fooling themselves. It is very hard to have a band around your stomach that stops you from eating. Some days you can't eat at all. I would do it over again in a heartbeat, but its not an easy road. You HAVE to make lifestyle changes with a lapband or you will be sick!! Last edited by BaxtersMommy; 09-15-2010 at 04:11 PM. |
