I had lapband surgery and I am very glad I did! Although, I have only lost 50 lbs and have another 60 to go, I KNOW for a fact that I would have kept gaining weight. I knew that I was getting older and the heart disease and diabetes in my family was staring me in the face. Weightloss surgery is no walk in the park. It is still VERY HARD to lose weight. (if you do it the right way) It is only a tool I have lost my weight over an 18 month period. Others that had the surgery the same time as me have lost their band because they threw up everyday and their band erroided into their stomach, so they had to have it removed. Others have gained back some of their weight. Weight loss surgery is only a tool to help you. So anyone that thinks its easy is fooling themselves. It is very hard to have a band around your stomach that stops you from eating. Some days you can't eat at all. I would do it over again in a heartbeat, but its not an easy road. You HAVE to make lifestyle changes with a lapband or you will be sick!!
