Lifestyle changes (food & exercise) goes without saying in any of these situations - but as you know - it's only a piece of the puzzle.

It's true! We had about 6 people at my company do the gastric surgery (large company) and all but one gained most of it back!
My friend's dad did the lap band and it's been very successful for him. I think if one is at the point where surgery is being considered, I would personally look into that first. It doesn't have to be permanent. I would be so devastated to do gastric bypass and then the weight not come off.
