| I was actually in Charlotte with a 20 min break before the flight took off for Boston. Everyone was allowed to deplane and then come back on....this was before the pilot was notified what was happening....anyway....I was the only passenger on the plane....thinking...." I am not going out to fight in the crowd since we will be taking off in 20 min." In came the stewardess....saying..."oh no...what happened...." on her cell phone to someone......I questioned her and she just said that a plane crashed.....I then deplaned quickly to see what was going on.....everyone in the airport were walking and running quickly....with the oddest looks on their faces.....kinda like a trance....everyone running...all going to get rental cars....or just out of the airport, phones all tied up......very panic stricken... I remember how awful that day was....no rental cars available....no way out of the airport...lines and lines of people trying to get the few vehicles that were available...the rental car companies were charging 500% over on the cars out of the airport....cabs lined up with over 400 people in line trying to get out of the airport.....it was horrific......I was at the end on the line......everyone was getting one person into a cab...the line was so long....so here I am at the end of the line....I thought....forget this crap.....I ran to the front of the line and jumped in a cab....and then hung out the window yelling for a girl from Connecticut to come on.....and then yelled for an old man to come too.......I just wanted to help anyone I could.....and to have company....so as to not be so scared myself.....I was terrified and was fearful that they would bomb the airport in charlotte based on the fact that it was a Delta hub.....and no one knew if the terriorsts were targeting airports in other areas..... I lost track of that girl from Connecticut...she was about 20, crying and scared....I let her stay with me in a hotel about 30 miles from Charlotte...for two days.....we both needed to be with someone....she could not get home to her family, nor could I get to mine.....we just talked and cried....and talked and cried some more...... Sorry to be so long winded......it is just a day that i will never forget.....nor the looks on the faces of the people in the airport.......you see.....we were to fly right into Boston.....that is where they found one of the "cells" of the terrorists....in Boston...... a very sad day..... |

| YT 500 Club Member | I was doing my usual morning routine, watching Good Morning America with my coffee, before work. They cut in with the news about the Trade Center; so I called my daughter in Minneapolis and left a message. She had stayed there once and had a picture of herself and her dad at the top of the Trade Center. Then I watched as the second plane flew into the other building.
