| I was just getting out of the shower when my son called from Japan to tell me what was going on. I ran downstairs to turn the TV on and was standing there in some sort of shock I think because I remember feeling nothing at all at first, then a burning sensation inside that almost made me vomit. I sat down and totally lost it then. I still cry thinking of what all those people that were there and those family and friends who were watching were going thru. The poor little kids watching those buildings come down on their parents and so on. How horrible. If this is what war is like, then I'd probably have a major breakdown if I were in any war. |

| I had just walked upstairs to the gym child care to drop off my daughter and the tv was on in there (and not to Barney, so lots of kids were crying!). Needless to say, I didn't work out that day, but sat with the rest of the people at the gym glued to the tv. Still brings back a terrible feeling.

| My son was studing for exams and he and I were having a break watching TV. We were in total shock. We both cried. We had the opportunity to visit your beautiful country many years ago and had gone to the top of WTC. We couldn't believe it was gone! Those poor people. I still feel sad when I think about it.

| I was at work (for a major oilfield construction company), when a manager came in to tell me. Being one of the few who had i-net, several people ganged around in my office to watch. My hubby, who worked for the same company in a different department, came running over and we hung onto each other while calling all four kids. That was probably the most hopeless feeling I've ever had. It made me a more appreciative person. I still take time to THANK people in the military, law enforcement, and other services groups. |

| I was on the way to have my dog breed. I heard bits and pieces on the radio, but turned it off and thought to myself, why are theytalking about the WTC, that happened 10 years ago. When I got to the breeders house, I saw what was really happening. What a dreadful day. At work, later that afternoon, we were all crying and watching it in the break-room. Lynn |

| I was at work, and my boss ran into the office and said "We're being attacked." We asked what she was talking about, and she said "The United States is being attacked - they put a plane through the World Trade Center." We could not imagine anyone attacking the United States. We immediately put on the radio and were in shock.

| Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I was sitting at the computer - same place as it is now - in a chat program. Someone mentioned the incredible news, and I RAN to turn on the TV. Just in time to see the second plane hit. At first I was just numb. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Then, I started shaking. I called one of my sisters out of state to see if she'd heard. When I asked if she'd seen the news, she asked: "Israel?" I can still hear the emptiness as I responded: "No. Us."

| I was getting out of my car at work when the first one hit. My first reaction was that it was a terrible accident. Then at work someone had been in the breakroom (where we had a TV) and said the other was hit. It was then that we realized that it was terrorists. We took turns all day going back to watch TV. One of the most touching things I remember was the night (that night or the next) when all the Congressmen/women/Senators stood in front of the Capitol singing patriotic songs. I cried and cried! They put all the political BS aside and stood as one for those few minutes and ALL agreed about something. I think it really said something.

| Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() I was in 3rd grade. School had JUST started, so we were all still in Summer mode haha. I remember we were goofing off in class when Miss Poulsen (my teacher) got a call from the office. It's quite obvious to me now that they told her what happened (from the look on her face), but that day she couldn't tell us what was going on. She wasn't quite "herself" for the rest of the day, and I remember thinking something back must've happened. Then about 10 minutes later it was reading time. We were all sitting on the carpet and she was reading us a story, and one by one all the kids in our class started getting called down to the office because their parents were there to get them. (mind you, we still didn't know what was going on). There were about 6 of us left, and we were very confused, and quite jelous of those who went home. At the end of the day, my parents came to get me (they had been at a funeral and couldn't leave to get us). You know, I don't remember how my parents told me or anything. but I remember watching it on the news, and my mom said you could see the smoke from our house. God Bless America.

| I had requested that day off and i had just taken my nephew and dropped him off at school when i got home my mom had the tv on. And when i saw what had happened i still didnt know they were not sure what had really happened yet. I just remember telling my mom although i lived in another borough not in Manhattan where it happened i was going to pick my nephew back up from school he was in first grade when i got to his schooll it was like mayhem all mothers and fathers and aunts and uncles picking up their kids, nephews nieces it was pandemoneum. My nephews class was right near the stairs entrance and i was thinking to myself he must be scared wondering why there was so much people screaming in the hallway. I got him and went back home. My sis was working in the city and she worked on 89th street and she had to walk to 59th street and cross over the queens bridge in order to get to brooklyn and her friend had to pick her up. Thank goodness i didnt know anyone that past on that day but with all those people that died in there. You would have to be a cold hearted person not to feel sorry and hurt for all those that died or had loved one's that died that day. Very sad day i must say for weeks after that i was afraid that something else was going to happen.

| I was watching GMA and completely freaking out that my daughter was at school and my husband was at work. Shortly before the attacks I was looking forward to celebrating my anniversary that night. What a fabulous day to celebrate such a wonderful event (my wedding and marrage). Tomorrow is mine and hubby's 14th.

| I had just gone downstairs and turned on the Today show. I sat down and was trying to assimilate what had happened with the one tower on fire when unbelievably the second tower was hit. Our "safe" world was cracked and we saw how vulnerable the US can be. There were probably more "I love you's" said to family and friends than any time in American history and we understood a little better how precious those around us really are. May we take time tomorrow to honor those we lost. |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | At the time, we were living with my in-laws. I was washing dishes in the kitchen and saw it on the news. I stopped what I was doing and sat on the couch to watch the news coverage. I had never been so scared, sad and mortified at the same time. It is a day that no one should ever forget. All the lives that were lost, all the children that waited for mommy or daddy to get them and they never did. So many lives where changed because of that horrible day. Thanks for the thread, Joan.
