Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | NEED IDEAS Please - DOG Left outside all alone Sorry this is long - I'm SO mad at my neighbors - I posted about my neighbors dog a long time ago that I had to call the Houston Animal Cops on -The post is so old it's gone cause I couldn't find it but trust me - these people should NOT HAVE A PET OF ANY KIND..... Photos & the story is on Millbusters here but BEWARE - its VERY Graphic. http://www.millbusters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497 Back in 2005 they had let their poor dog get in such bad shape his skin was RAW over 1/3 of his body - what I had thought was rust colors on him was BLOOD..... The day I saw him (after Chanel alerted me to him huddled in the corner of his yard) I had to climb my fence to actually see him and shot pictures from every angle to show how truly hurting he was & called the ASPCA immediately ...the photos got them out QUICK & they surrendered the dog. NOW - 2 years later -- the same people have a very small beautiful white Poodle outside in the HOT HOUSTON sun and have left him/her out there all day. I need ideas because if this poor dog is going to be left outside like this ...I need to do something...she's just out there crying and crying and it's breaking my heart. I'm so hoping this little dog is only visiting but what if they got another and are going to leave him or her out all summer ??? I know the laws but I also know I can't knowingly let a small dog suffer outside like that - it's already up to 100 degrees here in Houston and this just isn't right ...MAN I'm mad - I can't believe they'd even take on another dog after seeing what they did to their beautiful lab. Ideas ?? So far they aren't breaking the law and the dog looks well cared for. |

| Do they have food and water and a little house for him/her to get away from the sun? Doesnt a dog have to have proper shelter to be able to get away from the elements. I would still call....perhaps with the last report that was filed and the dog they surrendered The Animal Cops will watch them more closely. Maybe keep a diary for a week of the conditions of the puppy and how often it gets food and water, or human companionship even.....if it gets to go inside at bedtime...things like that and then call when you have a small case against them. Or Or...you could grab them and tie them up to trees outside in 100 degree weather in fur coats with a bowl of water that gets dirty quickly and take the dog into your air conditioned home and come out occasionally pat them on the head and go back in...after a few days they should get the hint ya think? |

| If the dog is left outside, it must be properly contained and be given adequate shelter, food, and water. If there is no shelter for the dog or water left out, give AC a call. I doubt they'd take the dog right then but they would talk to the owner about having proper shelter out there. Poor poodle

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I know....I'm horrified and they haven't even done anything bad yet. But - to me leaving a little dog outside in this heat is just cruel. I had heard a new 'little bark' the other night and thought - oh shoot someone has a small dog and he wants in the house...but today -that poor baby has been out there almost all the time now......I hear the little barks. That's just LAZY and wrong ....I'm going to take photos but from what I see the dog looks nice and clean - just miserable and very very lonely. It's SO hot in the sun and their back door has no shelter at all. I think I'm going to go personally and talk to them for starters. They know someone called on them in 2005 and maybe they'll do the right thing and let this poor dog inside where he/she belongs

| I don't know how it is in Texas, but typically, if an animal has been taken from someone, they can't own another for a specified amount of time. Do you know if they had a time requirement like this placed on them? You can go back and look, those kind of records are public. You could just start there.... I feel very sad for that dog. I lived in Houston for a few years and the heat is MISERABLE!!!!!!!! If they were so intenet on getting an outdoor dog, why in the world did they get one that has pink skin and WILL burn in the sun?!!! Ugh! Tammy |

| So Sad That's awful!! We had next-door neighbors who had a Shar-pei and they never brought him inside. Granted, he had food, water and shelter - but IMHO that isn't enough! This dog was on a short run leash (I don't even know what they're called) and it allowed him to get into the hot little house and reach the food/water, but no one ever went near him except to fill his bowls. He sat there day and night unloved, unattended. One time he managed to get caught between their yard and my yard, under the fence, and another neighbor and I managed to free him even though he was becoming vicious. Dogs that are chained all day and un-cared for become mean, it's a fact. Eventually the neighbors got together and told them that they couldn't take it any more and I guess they got rid of him. One day he just wasn't there any more. I think the biggest question to me is: Why even buy a dog just to chain it in the yard and ignore it? A few days later they were showing off their new Chihuahua and not too soon after they moved away. We have wonderful neighbors now and they have a 95-lb Boxer who is madly in love with Kalina. He just sits and waits for her at the fence...it's so cute.

| What they did with the white dog was outrageous! Bless you V for helping that poor baby out. I can't imagine how you're feeling with this new baby tied out there.... I think you're a nicer person than I and you have the right idea going to speak with them face to face. Perhaps with some "diplomatic" wording they will understand that tying their pet outside all day long (no matter what the weather) is just not acceptable! I'm hoping they're somewhat rational people and will do the right thing for this little poodle.
