| ![]() You must be an excellent cook. We had hamburger patties with avacado. ![]() I have some salmon thawing for tomorrow's dinner. I always put lemon pepper on it but maybe you can tell me how to make it like you did. Last edited by chloeandj; 12-27-2006 at 05:02 PM. |

The salmon was easy...I have a grill pan that I can use on my stove so I grilled the salmon in butter and lemon juice, tossed in some Rosemary, salt and pepper...when it was just about cooked I mixed some mustard and maple syrup together and put it on for the sauce...then I grilled it a bit on each side so the sauce was kind of caramely. For the veggies just use a non-stick pan with a little PAM or Olive oil...cut the red peppers into short strips and saute them in the pan with some broccoli tops...then add some pepper. See, pretty simple! Hubby won't eat salmon so he's having a pepperoni pizza...which is a real test of my will power...a lightly browned, extra pepperoni, thin crust pizza is my favorite! My salmon is really good though! I'll use the left over salmon for my lunch tomorrow. I'll put it over a salad with some tomatoes, onion, maybe an olive or two and a dill/vinagrette dressing. | ![]() I am starting a low carb on 1/2/2007. I have already quit smoking and now I will start on weight loss and exercise. I had to get rid of my smoking demon first and I am now looking forward to being slim and trim again ![]() |

| ![]() Please be careful with the Atkins Diet. With it's mostly unlimited fat...it is very bad for your heart and arteries. My Dr. thought South Beach was a better choice over Atkins. You should check with your Dr. first. SB was very easy for me and I lost 56 lbs in about 4 months. I never felt deprived at all. I just need to start it again and then manage with Weight Watchers like was suggested.

| ![]() My best friend has been low carb dieting for 2 months now and she has lost 40lbs(15% of her weight)! Im so proud of her. My dad also had diabetes and he low carb dieted and he is now in the best shape of his life and his diabetes are now completely under control. But one thing I didnt knwo about low carb dieting that I recently learned: it can cause kidney stones. My best firend had a horrible case of kidney stones last month and the doctors said it was becasue of too much protien in her diet brought on by the adkins diet she is on. He said to be sure and drink lots and lots of water.

| ![]() I low carbed for a year and lost 35 pounds. I wore a size 4 for awhile, but everyone said I was looking too skinny (IMAGINE!) Which really was too skinny for my frame. I have leveled out between size 6-8 for over 18 months and keep it off with modified low carb and portion control. I just try to avoid pasta, bread, processed food and eat lots of fish, chicken, salads, nuts, some fruits. A lot of people warned me of the "dangerous" things about low carbing, so I stopped telling people how I was doing it. I never felt better. My doctor told me I would live to be a really old lady just looking at my lab. Anyway, a word of advice to all you new low carbers: YOU WILL WANT TO EAT PAINT OFF THE WALLS the first three days cause you will be so hungry. STICK IT OUT and drink lots of water and a miracle will occur and you won't even feel hungry after the three days. DO NOT CHEAT or it will never get you to the appetite suppression. Also, I always get a pretty yucky headache when I induce (the three day hell I was telling you about), but it's worth it. It also keeps me on the program, because I dread having to induce again and bring on the headaches! Get ready for the pounds to melt off like you've never seen if you stick to it!!

And you are so right! When I started back in october I would just go to the cupboards and smell everything I couldn't have LOL. I'd chew up a cracker and spit it out LOL Anything to get me through the first few days. But then as you say, it is a miracle, you are not hungry at all very soon after. And the headaches... take 2 excedrin first thing in the morning the first two days of induction, just in case...LOL The headaches can be awful but I realized mine was more from coming off caffeine than coming off sugar. So I still let myself have coffee...It hasn't seemed to inhibit my weightloss and I didn't have the headaches this time. | |
