| I was raised to never talk back to my elders and have respect for my authority figures (teachers & coaches) so in this situation to speak up for myself would be disrespectful based on the way I was raised. I would have a very hard time doing this and doing it correctly even if my parents told me it was okay. I've had coaches like this before. They are trying to prove a point that they don't care how long you've played it's their team now. If you stand up to these type of coaches it just makes things worse because then you look like a trouble maker. I believe the coach is trying to threaten and bully these kids and someone needs to intervien. Coaches can come up with the wierdest things to exercise their power. My BIL was cut his senior year because he refused to cut his hair. Go figure.

I agree with you that communication is very important. I think that a parent should also involve their kid in any actions they plan to take and let them know what is going on every step of the way. What is going on is so important to these kids and they need their parents to at least guide them on what to do. I think that this is a major case and I hope it gets resolved soon and the they don't miss a game.

While in 5th grade, she casually mentions at dinner that she told her teacher....I don't like you and you're a lousy teacher Not spoken in anger, just cause she thought he needed to know. I thought I would die. My little miss know it all was promptly informed she was to go back to school and apologize for this remark. You can think it, but it was very disrepectful and hurt his feelings. And how do I know she did what I told her.....I called him later in the week.

Lol. That's pretty funny. Good of her to speak her mind but even better that you teach her to respect her elders. So did she apologize?

| I think I'd rather have a student like your daughter who is not afraid to tell me what's on her mind, even to that extend. Why? I'd know how to work it out with her and talk it out with her. But, with students that "hide" and won't communicate except through their parents, I find it difficult to work with. I don't know what they're thinking and thus don't know how to help them. Again, good job raising your daughter! |

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I think a lot of good points have been made about the best way to resolve the problem, but the bottom line is it should be resolved. This is high school athletics, not college. This coach has made the team about him, and that's just wrong. If the principal doesn't intervene, you should considering taking the matter to the school board. Well, encouraging your son to take the matter to the school board.

| Ok this coach has got to go... The boys went to talk to coach and asked him about his decision to cut them. His reply. NOW I HOPE YOU"RE ALL SITTING DOWN!!!!! It's all about winning, he wants a team that he molded not one molded by someone else. He cut the pitcher who actually throw the winning stike outs for our HS team to win the county championship last year. He doesn't care that they are seniors. It isn't about having fun or your senior year, IT"S ABOUT WINNING. He will mold his team!!! WTF! If this isn't enough his equally waco brother is the asst. coach. The parents have requested a meeting with him and the principal and it is scheduled for tomorrow. The guys are really disgusted right now, who can blame them. My son was approched during school by the track coach who said asked him and another teammate to come be sprinters for track team since the BB coach is a j/o. THis is completely insane I feel like I am back in Little League with some of THOSE parents.

| OMG!!!! What a jerk!!!!! I glad your son and his teammates went to the coach, but I think it is time for the the parents to step in. I would diffently call the school board and inform them of the meeting tomorrow with the principal because the they don't always know what is going on. I would suggest that your son and his friends right down everything that happend and was told on along with dates and times, so they have documentation to give to the proper people. |

Go on line and check your schools bylaws. I just talked to our son, he's a High School Water Polo/Swimming Head Coach. He said there's no way that would fly here. The school can over ride a Coach. Sounds like a power trip coach to me. He will be very lucky if he still has a job by the end of the week. This is so much stress on the students, I feel very sorry for them. Good luck to all your players.

| I am so very sorry about the coach issue. I hope you are able to resolve it satisfactorily. Have you had a heart to heart talk to your son to get an thorough understanding about how he feels? It really sounds like the coach is on some sort of power trip to me. I work in the school system and understand some of the politics involved. |
