Really pissed need to vent.. My oldest son just called me from school. He got cut from the baseball team. He has played varisty baseball for 3 years, he's a senior this year and even though he is my son is, he is the teams best first baseman. The HS has a new varsity baseball coach and he said from the beginning that he has no problem cutting seniors from the team and they should expect that he will. Well the long and short is that he decided that he would rather have kids on the team that he can work with for more than one season. The coach cut just about all the seniors from the team. I am so pissed right now I feel like marching down to the school and doing something about this. However, I am sure that my son will take this in a more adult way then I want to right now. I have never heard of such a thing. What a great way to say goodbye to the seniors and showing the schools appreciation. Thanks for letting me vent.   :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown |
That's bull****... The coach should not be allowed to do that. He could be messing with kids chances of going on in life. If the school doesn't do anything about it I would call my local news station. They love it eat it up and your son along with the rest of the seniors if worthy would be put back on the team. My son plays ball also and I can't even imagine how I would feel! You have every right to be pissed... |

OMG!! I can't believe the coach has done that!!! You would think he would want to keep the seasoned players for the season - those who have proven themselves in the past and may help reach a division/district/state title! My youngest has been playing select baseball since he was 8 years old (he's now 13) and his goal has been to earn a starting position with the JV team at his school...he did that!! I would have a hard time controlling my temper and my tongue if this happened to Taylor! A senior's final year is when most college scouts are on the look-out for their university!! I agree with others here, if the school administrators and the athletic director does not handle this, I would be experiencing the worst case of writer's cramp by writing the local paper and would be on my way to becoming speechless from talking to all the news media!! An action reporter would LOVE to get his/her hands on this story!! Please keep us posted on what happens. |
What an A*****E lets hope he gets the sack:eek: |
I say march up there and raise H%^&!!! That coach should not be allow to do that! He could be ruining the chances of getting scholarships for some of the seniors. |
It's ALJ Highschool in Clark. I am going to see the principal after school today. I am just so PO right now. Maybe I should calm down first. What a way to end your senior year. |
Good luck!!! Just think you are probably not the only parent that has call them today about this. Have the boy's voiced their opinions to school when this happened? |
What the coach did was wrong. But, this is what I'd suggest: 1. Talk to your son. How does he feel about it? If playing the sport is his passion, what is he going to do about? What steps is he going to take to get that back? 2. Encourage him to go and talk to the coach, the school principal, sports director, etc. Ask HIM send a letter to the stations, to the newspapers, etc. As a mom, I know you're very upset and worry about this but your son needs to resolve this on his own. That's how they learn to handle the "tough" lessons in life. I worked with elementary school kids all the way up to high school kids. I've seen kids who bumped into the slightest problems and they didn't know how to solve it. They simply turn around and look at their parents for help. That's one of my biggest pet-peeves. Parents should TEACH their kids the "how to's" instead of just doing it for them. |

[QUOTE= Oh, and someone said to ask how your son feels? Well, he's obviously upset and mad or else he probably wouldn't have called you in the middle of school, right? [/QUOTE] Yeah, that someone is ME! |
Here's a lesson from a pro....... How to raise h-ll like a bansee........ And yes I agree children should be taught to resolve problems...HOWEVER in this case, if there were any possibility of my child receiving a sports scholarship....you bet your pibby, my butt would be in that principal's office. College scouts do not choose who they don't watch play.... |

You're right but kids need to learn how to do it first. Then, if the kids just aren't being successful, then the parents should intervene. Bottom line, kids should try it first. |
That isn't right at all. They should let the seniors finish out the year. You're more patient than I am...I would have been there already! |
