I so know what you mean about living with family! We just moved out of a house we rented from my MIL for years. She use to come and park her camper in our backyard anytime she felt like it and suck our electricity and hook up to our internet. That may sound mean but she stayed for months at a time. Never any notice. Its like she thought because she rented the place to us she had a convenient place to stay whenever she wanted. It drove me nuts. LOL You should be thankful you weren't born in Asia than. Asian women (Koreans/Chinese/etc) are expected to live with the husband's family after marriage. They are also expected to take over any house work like cooking and cleaning. Thankfully, this "tradition" is changing or at least that's what I'm hearing.

There IS a reason for this way of living but then, I'd be blabbing about the entire history so I'll just stop here. :D

It's really expensive to live here too. :( But I don't want to move to anywhere else. I wish more people would move away instead. LOL

Yeah, we are just renting a room with bf's family right now. We looked into renting our own place a few years ago and any place that's decent in Orange county is like $2000/mo. Just ridiculous. And any house to buy that wasn't totally in the ghetto was like $500k+ and not even all that. We got a brand new place in Vegas (in a new community right next to the nicer part of town) for less than $250k. 2300sq ft on 3 floors with a roof top deck. And we still have money to furnish and do the backyard.

It's really expensive to live here too. :( But I don't want to move to anywhere else. I wish more people would move away instead. LOL
Yes Vegas is that much cheaper! There are single family homes starting in the low $100s. Decent homes in a nicer area like what we got is $200-300. There are some much more but are custom homes or mansions in The Lakes area in the millions. Then there are the high end condos/apts on the Strip. But that is totally not my thing.

As for the Asian thing, yes my mom had to do that. Even though they moved here back in the 70s, the tradition was the same. My grandma drove my mom crazy a bunch of times. My grandma was REALLY bossy, then after she started getting senile, she turned super nice.

From your description, sounds like house prices are similar to here. Location is what drives the prices. Even if the home is absolutely junk, the price is unbelievably high simply b/c it's 20 min from DC and is close to two major highways.

Asian Americans... LOL I find it that Asians that immigrated here in the earlier years are much more conservative than your average asians here these days.

Are you going to make a little doggie playground for your furbutt with the extra money you have?! I would love to have a back yard. Unfortunately, my home is the corner house so we have a huge front yard and next to no back yard.

We will have a pretty small backyard. Which I am grateful for bc our last home, which was in Ca out I the boonies, which we paid $500k for back in 2006 and we LOST! Had a huge backyard and we could never afford to do a thing to it! Small but nice space that we will landscape. The whole house will be great for the dogs. All carpets on all three levels and carpeted and no way for the to fall thru railings.

Yep it's true. My friend has a huge 2 story house he bought for $200 there. REally nice.

We found a nice condo for $1500. We are really happy with it. we got lucky but I had to really hunt and hunt and hunt. any other one like it we looked at was $1800 and up. And the landlords are super nice and don't bother us. We mail our rent and that is about all the communication we have with them. :)

I've been doing so good, but tonight the family wanted to go to Yogurtland for frozen yogurt. So I indulged and had a frozen yogurt with chocolate chip toppings and it was so gooodd! I guess everyone has to cheat once in a while, right? :rolleyes:

Hey, Yogurtland is not THAT bad. The thing that makes it bad is the toppings or the sugary flavors. Or having a huge cup by yourself!

The funny thing is I see people after they complain about eating at Chipotle and being so full and them say to their friend, you wanna get a juice? Their juice is an 800 calorie bomb from Jamba! Or a dessert of FroYo. :rolleyes:

As far as the moving front, we got half our stuff in the Uhaul. My back is killing me and I am so our of shape. It doesn't help that most our stuff is "real" furniture and antiques so they are heavy. Still have the bedroom to do in the AM. And then all the clothes, kitchen stuff, and sewing stuff. :(

My doctor told me to lose some weight to help lower my triglycerides. I told him "I'm trying"...but can't seem to lose much. Got to step it up a notch...so here goes.

I think this time around is the hardest time I have ever had losing weight. I know age is starting to play a factor for me. I am 36 now. ;I am not going to give up though and I will lose the weight I want. This is why I don't weigh myself. I know if I am losing too slow I will get discouraged and that will mess up my motivation. Good luck.

Little ones LOVE these. Ground turkey,Beet, carrot, celery, apple, and some ginger = they don't know its good for them!:D Trying to get healthy together as family~

Thanks for the encouragement and the reminder...age has a lot to do with weight loss. My metabolism stinks...
