Why didn't they convince Arias to play the victim card, play up to her acting and scamming skills and get her to throw herself on the mercy of the court and show nothing but remorse? When you've slaughtered another human being like an animal and left him no dignity, the last thing I'd think you want to do is trash his memory before the world for months on the stand, taking absolutely no responsibility yourself. That was her only real shot to get out of jail relatively "early" - go sad and pitiful. She's a young, fairly attractive woman and she could have played that "I snapped when he attacked and I'm so sorry" card without the character assassination with some amount of success with many who are hesitant to send that type of person away for a long, long time. The way they've done it, Arias and her lawyers and experts have just angered everyone. A lot do seem to want revenge for TA, not just justice.

I really don't think they had any control, they know she isn't the submissive pleaser that she claims to be; although she can do that well, if it suits her needs at the time. She probably didn't want to go with any type of mentally ill/insane defense, because Jodi really believes she's evolved higher than most people. Reading her My Space, I got the impression that she was always trying to give others advice on how to be a better person. At one time, Travis even thought she was beautiful inside. I think this is such an important part of Jodi's image of herself. I get the impression that Jodi still hasn't accepted the fact that she was obsessed with Travis, the most she'll say is they were mutually obsessed, and she still brags about how he said if he got her he'd feel like he won the wife lottery. She can't accept the fact that Travis didn't think she was wife material. Everyone knew how much he was looking for a wife and that has got to be a huge insult to someone like Jodi, after all she had done to prove what a wonderful wife she’d be. I think their best defense would have been the truth, she had little self-esteem because of various things and Travis was the only person in the world who ever made her feel good about herself. When he didn't want to see her anymore she was terrified, who was she without Travis? Even in her interview when she describing why she's smiling in her mug shot, she says she thought of Travis and what he would do. She has so much proof that she was a very sick cookie who couldn’t accept any type of rejection. Part of the reason I think she lied so much during interviews was that she didn't want Travis's family to dislike her. I think that's killing her. I think she wants to die now b/c reality had to pop in and burst her bubble that not that many people really believe her. Maybe her family and her cell mates, and a few other kooks, but the majority don't believe her and that's killing her. Oh no, I'm starting to feel compassion for her!

Whatever she believes, I don't think she trusted her attorneys and I see why. They are getting a lot of skewering for their lackluster performance and aren't top legal minds, it's true.

I have long thought Arias probably wants the drama of Death Row and the ultimate death scene with reporters covering her every move if she couldn't win outright and walk away. But the death penalty on this case? I don't see it unless this jury is very different from our general culture today. There will be one or two holdouts who don't want the responsibility of sending her to death for one reason or another or just morally oppose it when it comes time to vote "Death".

I don't believe for one minute that Jodi wants to die.

She may not but I think she'd love the drama of it all. I think she'd eat that up with a spoon knowing she had so many watching her every move for years. She sure looks shut down and sullen today. Wonder if she'll take the stand.

She is supposed to. Interesting look....almost makes me think that someone smacked the smirk off her face. Wonder what she will say now? Ohhh and she is going to talk about her *ART* ... I hope the jurors know that stuff is fake. It's all copied. sheesh I would be SO tempted as the prosecutor to show the originals....I am so sure he knows about them. Wonder if ANYTHING about Jodi is for real....

I cannot wait for this performance, Linda. I think I'll pop some popcorn and get out my M&M's. This should be Oscar or Razzie worthy. Wonder what HLN's ratings will be during that testimony? Heehee - I wish Juan could open up one or two of those copyrighted magazines to the copied ads while Jodi is droning on about her "art" and just sit there staring at them, a knowing smile on his lips.

Problem is this: Is she really upset or is this another performance. She is such a freaking phony no one can believe anything she says or does. I hope the jury ignores her face and sticks with the issue at hand...I have faith that they will.
