Don't have so little faith. Professionals don't normally act like the ones Jodi's defense obtained.....but think how many people would put their livelihood on the line with a person like Jodi........I don't think the defense probably had a lot to choose from.

The prosecutor, I am so sure, has a professional .. as in a real one without an agenda.

I sure hope she's not so biased in the prosecution's corner that she loses her credibility, too!
I think any professional would probably sound biased, there really is so much evidence that Jodi is the type of person who could do something like this.

Yikes, Nancy, you are probably right. That expert witness will have so much to testify on she probably will seem biased but if she is good enough, maybe she can come across at least as fair and open-minded. At least this one likely didn't fall into her web of lies like the last two did.

I imagine that defense attorney didn't have a whole lot to choose from. Here's hoping that this one will show those last two "experts" up even more than they did themselves by her air of professionalism.

Btw all, can you even *imagine* being on this jury since JANUARY??? And it's probably not even going to go to the jury phase until MAY? My gawd, it's practically taking a 1/2 year out of their lives! I don't know if I could truly handle a case like that, sitting there day in day out for nearly 6 months. I was a juror in trial that took about 8 days out of my life and it was fine - but SIX months. I might go nutball with that length of case.

No way. Not a chance in hell I could stand it. Kind of scary to me to think who would.

I think it’s important to remember LaViolette is a victim’s advocate, she comes to this case in a very different way. Forensic psychologists have to sign a paper promising to be unbiased, you can bet they will try, for they probably don't feel the same way about Arias as the rest of us do. For example, I doubt if they hate her. The down side to this is that if the defense did get a preview of her notes they can ask the right questions to build the case, and she will answer them impartially, but she will be more likely to give us factual information and that will lead us to the truth.

I also doubt if LaViolette even throughly studied different personality disorders such as narcissism, antisocial and oppositional defiant disorder. I dont' think she cares that much about what the person brings to the situation, but just how do you fix it. For those of you unfamiliar with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), these people exhibit hostilely defiant behavior toward authority figures. Kicking mothers and tweeting about the prosecution would fall under this category.

Some of the other qualities of ODD

Performs actions to deliberately annoy others. Example gave Nancy Grace the finger.
Angry and resentful of others. Example: Killing Travis when he wouldn't take her on vaction.
Argues often. Shown on the witness stand by not answering questions and telling Juan, "That's a compound question."
Blames others for his or her own mistakes. Example: Blames Travis for his own death.
Spiteful or seeks revenge: Example: Kills Travis for not taking her on vacation and tries to ruin his reputation by calling him a pedophile. Look out, Juan if she gets off.

One of the problems I had with LaViolette, was the fact that she said she was “old fashioned” and didn’t want to ask certain questions. I really think this trait kept LaViolette from learning in Arias true feelings of the sexual relationship, and in turn the true relationship, because it was primary a sexual relationship. I don’t think LaViolette understands that those exist without someone (the girl) being the victim.

I totally agree!
1st time I've heard of ODD, but fits her.. among her many other psych "qualities"!
I guess now I'm going to have to be careful, who I call "ODD"..

Lol, yes, Jodi's rather odd isn't she? I think it's relatively new since I last studied; (30 years ago, maybe it's not so new). I was just looking at the psychologist's specialties and saw it listed. What made it interesting is the fact that these people want revenge. I suppose revenge is on a sliding scale with some not subjected to the feeling, while other primary operating force is motivated by it, and these people are scary. If it can be shown that Jodi is motivated by feelings of revenge, it would follow that the murder was premeditated.

She's also over the top Narcissistic "Oh Jodi why didn't you put on makeup?"
Here's some of the other narcissistic qualities.
Becoming jealous easily
Lacking empathy and disregarding the feelings of others
Being obsessed with self
Pursuing mainly selfish goals
Trouble keeping healthy relationships
Becoming easily hurt and rejected
Setting goals that are unrealistic
Wanting "the best" of everything
Appearing unemotional

There's an old joke among psychologists, "You'll never see a Narcissus coming to therapy unless it's court ordered, they never think anything’s wrong with them.”

I found this blog written by a Dr. Kristina Randle. She has some interesting articles about this trial.

This article looks at Jodi and her personal diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder (essentially, a sociopath). She didn't feel the narcissistic diagnosis completely fits Jodi, this is part of the explanation........"There is no mention in the DSM-IV-TR, of them lying, deceiving, killing, being violent or aggressive"

If you skip to page 6 this is where she starts her analysis.....

Mental Health and Criminal Justice

This is her blog with many more articles, there's a tab labeled "Jodi Arias" at the top.....

No doubt of this, you can have several of the disorders and combinations, people seldom fit one disorder perfectly, it just explains how people can behave the way they do and still be considered sane. Concerning antisocial personality disorder, these people usually have more trouble with the law than Jodi has previously had. I also don’t see the complete disregard for laws; I think Jodi wanted to be seen as “sweeter” and nicer than the average person. So many people say she wouldn’t kill a fly she took bugs out of water so they wouldn’t drown or something like that. The girls in jail say she’s always ready to help someone, she’s so kind. I think narcissistic fits in many ways, she really believed herself to be so smart she didn’t question her planning as anything less than brilliant and fool proof.

The article you linked is interesting, she says, "She lies with the greatest of sincerity." This is such an important point, it's not just the fact she lies, but the way she lies, how many normal people could do that? I wish Dr. Randle could have talked about oppositional defiant disorder and how it relates to Jodi, but I still believe that some of this isn't one or the other but a blend. She totally discounts borderline personality disorder, but Jodi does so much that reminds me of it. Dressing like her attorney, and changing her personality to fit what someone else seems to want. She doesn't seem to have a clear sense of self. I'm anxious to see what the personality tests indicate. Anyway, it's an excellant article, I'm going to have to read it several times.

By the way, here's an easy to find link to the second article: Jodi Arias Essays | Mental Health & Criminal Justice

Oh, totally agree! I couldn't hack that for a month let alone all this time. They must be going crazy by now. I'll bet they are so sick of all this I can't imagine.
