I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I know! She really frightens me and she must be awfully strong when she's enraged. The knife wounds went in deep.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | OMG, Juan Martinez starts his cross of Laviolette with the flippin' SNOW WHITE AND THE 7 DWARVES. It was utterly ridiculous; I get what his intention was - but it was not the right way to go. Also, he is looking like a petulant, angry little child again. If he would *just* reel it in and control himself, he'd garner so much more credibility.

| I agree Ann, Juan and the seven dwarfs story was not the way to go. He needs to get back to Travis being the victim. He needs to point out Jodi was a very willing participant in all their sexapades by using her own words. I can't wait for Monday, I hope Juan is more focused and a tad bit more calm by then. After seeing her parents interviews at the police station it sure explains more about her, she seems so have had problems even at a very young age.

Yup, he probably does have a very clear path in his strategy, he always does. I just think he may have overestimated his current path. You could see him sort of stumbling around, like 'reaching', when LaViolette didn't readily fall into his strategy like others have. I think Juan thought her speech was acutally *about* Snow White, when it really was just used as a clever title, an allusion. I do think, though, that he shouldn't pummel her or seem so furious AT her (per se) bc it makes him seem like an immature bully, like he isn't in control of himself. I'd like to see him treat her respectfully, whether or not he thinks she is way off base w/ Travis. I really like this guy, Juan, I truly do -- I think he's kinda a little rock star -- but I don't think he needs to be so emotional, I think it hurts his case. Can you imagine being on the stand w/ him? OMG, I would shrivel up like a little human raisin and probably just *poof* disappear altogether . Like Jodi, I too wouldn't be able to even think straight or recall the last question with someone coming for me like that...which makes that part of it a great strategy if trying to pummel someone's memory!

| I also believe LaViolette is very cunning at using Juan's assertiveness as a way to flip it on him. She's using him as "exhibit a" for the jury...As if to say, "Look at the abuse Juan is inflicting on me." I also believe LaViolette cherry picked through all the journals and emails to use just the ones where Travis could be labeled as an abuser. The one where Travis and Jodie had an argument and then Travis apologized was so off base. Travis apologizes and LaViolette says it was manipulation on his part....Really??? This opinion would apply to every relationship on the planet.... LaViolette is looking overly hypersensitive concerning the subject of abuse, she seems as if she's lost her ability to discern what's REALLY abuse......She'd probably say Kermit and Ms. Piggy had an abusive relationship.....

| I am going to have to take a break from this trial! It is causing me anxiety! I have grown to despise the entire defense team!!! How anyone could defend Jodi, the Wicked Witch of the West, is absolutely beyond me? This only reminds me how bad people in our country have more rights than victims - it's not right! I feel so bad for Travis A's family. I hope both of the defense's witnesses never work again... They are quacks in their fields - I'm stunned the defense could even find someone willing enough to publically support her. I will say, Nurmi, Jodi's lead attorney appears to have checked out - he looks so bored. Interesting, since I heard he wanted off the case before trial started....? |

| Not too much shocks me, but the sex talk on this trial makes me blush. I was really shocked when Jodi said now that Travis is dead her sex life is over. I hope I never have a need for Juan Martinez to prosecute me, I'll plead out. I really do feel bad for Jodi's family, it must be hard to hear what people are saying about her. I don't want to take anything away from the Alexander family, but why was a trust fund set up for them?

| Juan Martinez does have a way of even making a highly seemingly credible expert witness like LaViolette vulnerable on the stand and he is making it very clear she fell hook, line 'n sinker for Arias' story. He's slowly making is fairly apparent that LaViolette thinks of Arias as if she were one of her private patients and not someone on trial for life that she needed to assess as to her credibility, psychological state now and at the time of the crime and testify as to her conclusions. I cannot see from the testimony of hers that I've heard that she ever even considered that Travis could have been a victim of a "Fatal Attraction" type situation - with a far worse ending than the movie. She doesn't seem to have any ability to ever look at the relationship between the two as anything but Alexander in the role of male-abuser - period. I thought JM would use a different method of handling Alyce LaViolette than the last expert but he's just bulldogging right ahead relentlessly exposing this lady's seeming bias. I'll have to admit I'm grudginly admiring that! He treats her like the for-hire witness she's turning out to be. But if she just once or twice would ever see any of the issues from Alexander's point of view, she might seem more open-minded and fair to me but she never ever seems to give any credence to anything Travis Alexander typed, said or reportedly said that doesn't pigeon-hole him only one way - the aggressor and the abuser. I would think a so-called psychologist would be more center-of-the-road and consider that her current client might be presenting her with a very one-sided view of any relationship, particularly if that client's life could be at risk unless they can successfully impress a single juror that the client was the "real" victim in this situation; and that largely achievable through that same psychologist's court testimony. But she always sees every issue discussed from only Arias' POV and I think to be more credible she would need to tailor her assessments with slightly less defense prejudice. That extreme prejudice is very hard to accept and still see her as a totally professional and clinical expert, able to equitably assess any situation from all sides. She's coming off as just what she really is - a bought-and-paid-for defense witness whose job it is to further sell Arias' story to that one juror that could be leaning Arias' way. I wonder if she ever admits to herself at home at night that she could have been expertly lied to, hoodwinked and circle-talked, too? When I see an expert witness for the defense on the stand, I fall hard for those that are clever enough to appear clinical and cold and rigidly impartial. Those that can come off that way, though they may be a soul-less sold-out shill and putting 3 kids through Harvard on their defense-testimony dollars, really do impress me the most - even when I can see right through them.
