| I've got a stubborn trojan! ACK! I'm in safe mode so I can actually get some stuff done. My antivirus and Malwarebytes is detecting this trojan (svchost.exe) and removes it, but then asks me to restart and when I do, the trojan is back. Svchost.exe is a normal Windows process, but there are several files in the task manager with that name and disabling the wrong one = crash Every geek forum I've tried doesn't really have an answer for others that have this trojan virus, so I thought I'd see if anyone here has a clue for me? Banging head on keyboard My desktop died a couple of weeks ago, this is my daughter's laptop running Windows 7 and I am so unfamiliar with it I had my desktop for 10 years with XP, so I'm used to that OS. HELP

| Oh, I think if I were you I'd call my antivirus support team and let them walk you through removing it or do it remotely my taking over your computer, if you prefer. I had to do that once with a computer at work.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have "somewhat" a similar problem, in that my CPU runs near capacity frequently, holding up any activity, until it's caught up. This may be unavoidable in that I "updated" my Explorer from a 7 to an 8. I'm running WinXP btw. But in my case, it's the "System Idle Process" file, which is showing a >90% CPU usage. Is there anything I can do about this ?

| It is so frustrating to have these things happen to our computers. I don't have any advice about this, but wanted to mention that if you can't get it figured out, Matt from RemoteTek is great with fixing these problems and has helped many people here on YT. I recently had him work on my computer because it kept losing everything. Thank goodness I had Carbonite, or I would have probably lost it all for good. I thought I had a nasty virus, but it turned out to be a corrupt user profile. Matt does the work remotely so you don't have to take your computer in and his fees are very reasonable. I also had him work on my old computer a couple times and he always has done a great job. Here's his website: Remote Tek Support Good luck with your computer! I hope you get it figured out!

| Have you Googled your problem? I would cause there is usually pages of help at different sites. Choose the well-known sites for answers though. Otherwise, I have to use my Vaio Computer, Microsoft or Norton Support, if the answers look to complicated or hard for me to personally do as I'm not a geek.

I couldn't keep the darned computer running long enough to post at one of the forums and ask for help. I did some small tip at one site that said to open Task Manager and to change the setting on that process to low priority. This seems to have done the trick, for now. I will contact that Remote Tech guy if it happens again. I just wonder what the heck those people get out of maliciously attacking random computers It makes no sense!

| Good for you! I'm so glad it worked for you. I'm so helpless & scared to do anything so I'm glad to have that guy's website for future reference. I am like you - it is such a shame that there are such spiteful and useless people as to sit around & work on ways to make life hard & frustrating for those that are just trying to live our lives and keep on schedule. They're real hard to understand.
