| Teachers are special people who don't get enough credit or pay, but I have always felt the ones who truely love their jobs make the most impact on the students they teach. Great job teachers! I keep fuel inventory and file tax and fuel reports to the state for a local oil company. I have been there nearly 20 years. It is not what I went to school to do directly, but because of going to school I am able to do it. I like what I do, but don't necessarily love it. It keeps me challenged and I enjoy the people I work with. However, all my life I wanted to be a mom and a wife which I consider a job too, and I absolutely love that one.

| My mom has taught the 2nd grade for over 30 years. I was an aide for the 3 and 4 year olds about 10 years. Now I help make the Mardi Gras court costumes. I love this job! Before Mardi Gras comes around I pretty much can make any hours as long as my stuff gets finished and my Sakura gets to join me. And at any given time there are 8 dogs at the shop. It shocked me at first with having all these dogs around the dresses but 5 of them are little dogs. Everyday I am pretty much doing something different. I love watching the costumes going from sketches, to fabric, to dresses and tunics done with the plumed collars and head pieces. Last edited by Zanny; 01-02-2012 at 04:47 AM. |

| I love the place I work and my career suits me to a "T". I'm an accountant working in public practice in BC, Canada. I make a lot of money, but honestly I wouldn't care if I didn't like my boss or the work that I do. Recently, someone told my daughter, who is 17, that when choosing a career, you must think of a few things... 1. Does it put food on the table? 2. Is it stable? and 3. Do you LIKE it. LOVE of a job is not required, but you should not dislike it and it should not cause you stress. Personally, I quit a job several years ago that I hated to much I was almost throwing up at the thought of going to work in the morning. I quit regardless of the fact that I made good money and had a mortgage to pay. After that I promised myself I would never put money over quality of life.

| My job is trying sometimes but overall, I like it. Right now I'm a teaching assistant for the university I attend. I'm in a rather odd position cause right now I TA for 5 different professors (yeah kind of do it full time, it's my way of avoiding searching for full time employment). I mark papers, teach tutorials, meet with students and do administrative stuff. It's amusing to say the least. I'm planning on going to law school, so we'll see where I end up after thats all done, If I don't get into law school I'm thinking of getting a masters and phd and getting into teaching at the university level at business school.

| I finish my masters degree in social work in May, so I'll be job-searching pretty soon. Right now, I work for a hospital on the inpatient psychiatric unit, which I love. I also do graphic design on the side...through a company, but only when I have the extra time to do it.

| I'm a cook at a nice hotel here. I can honestly say I love it. I have to cook in front of the guests or whoever else is sitting in the restaurant & I'm very shy so I'm proud I overcame that to succeed here. It's also nice to work for a company I am passionate about. The owner is (allegedly) sending my daughter to college for 4 years at any MI University, just as he's sent my lil sis. And he owns our hockey team. It's nice to work where I feel appreciated & for a company that is not just in it for the money. I love working in hospitality & it's nice to work where the customer truly comes first all of the time. I worked in dietary at a hospital for 9 years & for the most part you're at the bottom of the totem pole & get no respect. It's nice to feel valued here. I certainly feel blessed.

| I am an application developer. Anyone know what that is? haha I develop reports for companies, using reporting tools such as Crystal Reports. I LOVE the challenge, I love learning new things, I love surprising people when I do something they didn't think I could. I love making other people's jobs easier because that is essentially what my job is all about. I love learning and growing. I hate my job when it becomes stagnant. When I feel I am not growing is when I feel it's time to move on. 6 months ago I took a new job doing Quality Assurance on reports other people developed! Ironic! haha I don't love it and I think it's because when I find a mistake I know how I'd fix it but I can't tell the developer how to do his job, it's not my job. But there is an opening for a report developer now. If I can get into that position, with a 2 mile commute I'd be a happy girl. The pay is a perk. The pay in my career path can get well over $100,000 mark... I am nowhere near that at this point though! I'm ok with that though.... I like to know I am EARNING every penny I make, by growing, learning and working hard!

| oh gosh I'm probably the worst person to come into this thread hahah I just got my first real job after college over a year ago and to be blunt, i hate it...at first it was actually nice. I got extra money, the people there were nice, and I met my current boyfriend at my job. Then about 4 months later, after my boyfriend and I were officially dating, I started getting bullyed by 2 coworkers. Took me about 6 months to finally report them to my supervisor and now they can't talk to me. Unfortunately for me, this job is very team-based so having 2 less people help you with your work is less than ideal. I recently have been getting anxiety attacks going to work cause I cannot stand it. Currently I am getting my masters in accounting so applying to accounting jobs without your degree finished is a little rough. I've been connecting with as many people as I can within the company to help find a different position though. I just had an interview on Friday for an accounting position but without my completed degree, I think it made the interviewer look over me. I did all I could though so as long as I did my best, I don't regret how the interview went. At the moment, my resume was forwarded to another position but it doesn't guarantee an interview but keeping my fingers crossed. Funny thing you mentioned being a school teacher. I was thinking that maybe I should just become a teacher...obvi I was just passing time while sitting in my car and I was thinking about being one for the obvious wrong reasons - holidays off, summers off, ect...but then I was like, if I did teach, it'd have to be young kids like Kindergarden, 1st-3rd grade because I am not that great at explaining things. Obviously sounds like a bad trait to be a teacher but I felt confident I could teach young kids basic skills - math, reading, handwriting, ect. It's weird I'd consider even teaching young children because in college, I couldn't stand young children. I thought they were annoying. Then, my sister gave birth to the most precious little angel I have ever seen and now I'm always cooing over little babies and young kids. Oh how things and people pop into your life and everything changes lol

| I know quite a few teachers and although they love their jobs, it is very hard to get a teaching job around here and I know a lot have been second-guessing their degrees and thinking they should have done something else. At least one has just stopped trying and got another job, although she still tutors. It's tough out there for teachers who are newly out of school! I'm not a teacher, but I love my job. I never thought I'd say that! Last summer I quit my first real "career" job because I felt I wasn't being treated fairly, it was stressful, and I just didn't like it. I moved to another company that seemed great, but when I got there, it wasn't! I dreaded going to work every day. I swore that in a few years when we start a family, I was not coming back to work and I'd just find a job somewhere in my little town and be done with it. After 3 months though, I couldn't take it, and another place I had interviewed with contacted me and asked if I might reconsider their offer or if they can give me anything else to make me switch. Are you kidding? Haha so I did switch, and it was the best decision I've ever made! I am a designer for Urban Land Development. It is so much fun for me! I work with plans of new subdivisions, parks, etc. and I set up road grades, lot grades, utility locations, garage/driveway locations for the lots, sidewalks, drainage, and I work with landscapers to make it look pretty Besides that, the office is really laid back. I can come in whatever hours I want, and they even gave me a laptop so I can work from home whenever I need or want to. For the last half hour of every Friday we have "Happy Hour" where a couple of people (it rotates) bring in beer and snacks and we just all hang out, because who really wants to work at the end of a Friday? I really can't believe I didn't find this place sooner lol!

| Lol! Beer, snacks, and flexibility Everyone here is pretty young and I think that's why they are so flexible, because that's what a lot of people are looking for these days, especially now that most families have two working parents.

| Do I love my job? YES! I have been privilaged to stay home with my children and be their teacher. We are a large very close knit family and I have enjoyed watching each of my children grow into a special adult that thinks for themselves and follows their heart. It is a joy to of been there when each of them have gotten something new in learning. I was there to help each of them learn to situp or walk and I got to be there when each of them learned to swim or ride a bike. This is all I really wanted to do as a job and I feel very blessed to be able to do what I wanted. Christmas mornings are some of my favorite days. All of my children love legos and someone or all of them have gotten legos of some kind every year. We will open gifts and then they all will just disappear, the house get very quiet but you can hear them talking quietly and the clanking of the legos. My husband and I will sit in the den and giggle at them because they are now 27yrs to 16yrs and it still happens. |

| Thank you, I do really love what I do. My younger brother is 11 years younger than me and thought that I was his mommie until he was 4. He was such a wonderful child to be with,it just made me want to be a mommie. He is now in his 40s and when I cleaned out the house that we grew up in he was soooo excited to get his Legos. He has only one child and when his son comes here there is a BIG antique icechest in my playroom full of basic Legos. |
