I can remember when my DD was 15, I went over to my Mom's house and apologized for everything rotten I ever did. Humbling having a teenager.

If we can work out a payment plan consider her sold. I have a barn full of sh*t that needs to be shoveled, so I can pay her back shovel for shovel of her sh*t. A good long day of hard physical labor does wonders for the attitude. They come in dirty, hungry and tired. After cleaning up and eating, they welcome the opportunity to get some sleep. Did I mention that we get up at 5:00 am? When the barn is clean, there is a pasture full of rocks that need to be picked up.

To Capt Noone,
I am so sorry if you and your mother dont get along,I so understand. I simply decided that I would be a different kind of mom. What I wrote may sound harsh,but because the rules in our house are very few and very simple and there is so much love that is poured out beyond that. I have a great relationship with each of my 6 children. My 26yr old son still comes to his parents for advice,my 25yr old daughter and I went through some tuff stuff when she was 21,but we are the very best of friends. She will even tell you that she made some bad choises,but that her parents were constant and loving. Even my younger brother that I partially raised calls and talks to me about things that he doesnt tell anyone else. All of this is because I chose to be a different kind of mother.
So dont discount motherhood,there are more rewards to this profession than you can get anywhere else. I help to care for the woman that I called mother, she is not like alot of moms out there,so many life issues of her own.

Just catching up on this thread, LOL. Entertaining for sure. I have to admit, when they told me my first baby was a girl, I didn't want to believe them. I thought they were wrong (sonograms were fairly new then

). When we had our second baby and she was a girl, I thought my life had come to an end! LOL. I did have some depression over it. All I could think about was how am I going to get through this. I didn't know anything about girls except what you all have been saying

. But, we survived the teenaged years. I honestly was blessed and didn't have many of these issues. My girls and I have been and remain best friends. My answer.....I treated them like boys!

Both of my parents ( my aunt and uncle that raised me). have been gone for a long time, now that I have a teenage son I wish that I could apologize to them for my teenage behavior. But when I pray I tell them how thankful I was to have a loving christian home and Thank God for them. I just hope my son can learn this one day.

I just seen this thread today and read it all

and have LMBO it sure gave me some flash backs of not so long ago...i just want to remind everyone that it don't stop here lol... after my 4 i raised my oldest GD to, until the ripe age of 16
then she went to live with her mom, her rules were easier than mine

but not better, so now she gets to help with raising 2 grandbabies while my GD
is still having fun

Because we have 3 or each we kind of raised all of them the same. My girls went scout camping with the boys,they have done rock climbing too. The girls all did and still do take dance. They have all put a new twist on it,one dances with lights,one does belly dance with me and one dances with fire. I have encourage them to all be artistic because if they are doing something that they love then they dont have time for boys/men. So far none of my kids have discover the other sex until at least 20 or 21 and I am sooooo ok with that. Each of my boys has their own passion as well motorcycles,paintball and halo (dont laugh at the video game. he is ranked in the top 3% in the world,I didnt think much of it at first until I figured out that he could make money or get a scholarship to college with it).
Kids are a joy,a trial,a heart breaker and then we get to see the fruits of our hard labor by seeing them as adults and maybe even parents. There is something about the teen years that are truely tuff on everyone. They are stuck in the twilight zone between child and adult,wanting to be an adult today but not realizing that it takes years to cultivate respect from others,and maturity, it is WORK,not handed to them like things were when they were a child. I remember being there,feeling like playing with my dolls but being a mom to my youngest brother. Our society tells teens that they are adults,but the truth is their minds are still just a childs.
Hang in there all of you moms,if you keep pushing forward with each kid (especially the ones you want to put in a closet),you will see the good stuff in the end,for some it just takes a little longer.

Train up a child in they way they should go and when they become old they will return to it. For some this means you have to wait until they are 30,for some it is when then are 18.
