| Woman in another forum made me want to... The forum name will remain nameless, although I'm SURE you can figure out what forum it is by the conversation. I really REALLY wish I could see this woman face to face, because she must be a very UGLY HUMAN BEING This is what she said... Originally Posted by ... when i see a girl with a fake bag, i like to be rude and say outloud "you know, i've got that same bag, only it is real...i'll sell it to you for $400..." knowing that they can't even afford 400 since they are carrying a fake.. lol..i know, i'm terrible.... And I of course had to write back... Do you think those that cannot "afford $400" are somehow beneath you? I'm not exactly sure what your problem is, but there isn't enough money in the world that would EVER make me want to have your attitude. If you get satisfaction from uttering such pretentious statements, then you must live a very empty life. I know that it is hypocritical of me to be judgmental of her in return...but I just cannot help it. I read a lot of pretentious things on that forum all the time, but this one just pissed me off to NO END! Sorry I'm done with my rant...

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's always weird to me when people are more concerned with the external than the internal. But then again, I suppose something awful may have happened to them in order for them to be stuck in their growth...which can be tough to move through. Pretentiousness stinks, doesn't it? It's sometimes those who cannot afford luxury items who seem the most concerned with them . When you can afford them, they kinda lose much of their appeal, ya know?

| I have always felt that people that have it, don't flaunt it. I think people that maybe have never had anything and maybe come into money someway or have ended up making good on their jobs, whatever, do not have to brag. I know people and have friends that have money and they are never braggers. They don't have too.!!!! Sorry she made you feel that way. People can be terrible at times. They act like first graders. |

| Well, I've never been one to follow all the designer names and the coach purses that I do have are hand-me-downs from my sister. lol I tell her all the time that the most expensive purse I have ever paid for was $80 (15 years ago) and I still think about it. lol I suppose to some money is not an object but it certainly should never make you feel superior if you do have it to spend.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | You're so right on - but unfortunately you see that in all kinds of forums. Someone thinks their car is better, their shoes are better because they have "red soles" - even their dogs are better because they're "standard"(or tiny, or whatever). It doesn't make us like/love what we have any less. Those types of people don't take hints so I don't even waste my time on them. If we let them get to us they get they attention they crave. Your comeback was awesome though! "The key to happiness is wanting what you have - not having what you want"

| I don't have a problem with people THINKING that they are better than everyone else because they have designer items. That is their prerogative, their life, and quite frankly as they say, what somebody else thinks of you, is not your business! What I DO have a problem with are people that intentionally do/say things to hurt someone else's feelings. THAT I do have an issue with, because you never know what kind of an effect your words can have on another person.

| If that person is looking to costly things to give her self-worth or make her life more meaningful, she sure is in for a very rude awakening one day, isn't she?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh also...does anyone feel like the desire for 'stuff' is more satisfying than the actual stuff itself? I've bought a few expensive items here and there, and I find it so anti-climactic once I have them. As in, I thought it would "feel" more gratifying. Now, I'm really more satisfied about thinking about the item, rather than actually having it. The only exception is if I reallllllly want something for a very extended time, then maybe; still, usually kinda anti-climactic. I will say the expensive thing I *love* is my engagement ring and wedding band. I look at it every day and it never seems anti-climactic. It represents something meaningful too.
