| After my ex broke up with me and I had to sell my house, cancel my wedding and get over it.... he bought me a coach purse (yes, after we broke up) and he said something like it would be the only coach I would own. After that I went on a shallow streak and bought everything 'expensive' I could. I HAD to prove to myself that he was WRONG about that. That I would make it on my own and could be successful and have whatever I wanted. NOW I'd rather spend my money on experiences than material items. I'd rather take a trip, see some part of the world. Or go out to dinner with friends or family and enjoy good company.

| Yeah, he was pretty harsh... to him, he was doing me a favor by pointing out my fashion cluelessness. He was very materialistic. My guy now is the total opposite. Seriously I need to buy him clothes that are not from 1980 bc he will still wear them if they don't have holes! Even then, it might depend on where the holes are! LOL He also has NO clue about brand names or costs of things. If he likes something he likes it, no matter if it came from Saks or Walmart! I love him!

| YT Addict | I will weigh in on this one. I never believe I am any better than anyone else on earth for sure. I tend to go and say I am going to go buy something, go look at it, feel it, and say nah can't justify it. Tend to not purchase because well, it is things. They cannot love you back. If it is something someone needs or a safety item we tend to say whatever is the best but not because of a label. Too many people get wrapped up into things. IF I had oodles of money there are so many people I could help! I am successful in my industry and feel very blessed but very saddened to meet people who flaunt and think they are the best of the best. Just remember beauty is inside and requires no fancy labels and costs frankly nothing. |

| So stupid. I can afford a real bag but choose to buy 20 knock offs in diff colors. Name brands dont make who I am. On the same token I see people on foodstamps and welfare who chose not to work only buy high end stuff. Doesnt make them rich or better either but proves though shall not judge a book by its cover.

I have to say though, with brand names or expense, comes quality (most of the time). I am not one to buy 20 of something. I'd rather just buy 1 that lasts me 20 years! Some things I buy brand name, some things I don't. I care more about the fit of the brand name than the actual brand name. I love CK jeans and INC (macys) jeans bc they fit my body shape very well. Unfortunately they are not cheap! But I have CK jeans that are 10 years old and still look good, so to me it was worth the $$!

![]() BTW, please don't buy counterfeit knockoffs. They are linked to drug trafficking, child labor, and terrorism. Now styles that are "inspired" by designers, like copying just the style, but not the actual name and trademarked logo is not.

As far as name brands... just wanted to add I have nothing against them. Lots of people have lots of nice things and I am happy for them. Shoot, I am sure I have way too much stuff too. However, it is the near worship of material things or placing too much importance on this stuff that I find so awful. (or even comical if I am being honest )
